Sketch of the Hyundai Genesis (or HB)
This is the first official picture of the firm's new Genesis concept, which will be unveiled at next month's New York Motor Show. With a sleek four-door shape and bold nose, the concept signals Hyundai's intention to build a new luxury model that it says will rival the BMW, Lexus's LS and the Audi A8.

The Korean model has drawn styling inspiration from several of its rivals, but it's the Japanese LS that it bears the strongest resemblance to. The production model is currently codenamed the BH, and will be available with a 4.6-litre V8 powerplant that will appear in the Genesis study. A large capacity diesel motor is also expected to debut when the showroom-ready model arrives. In keeping with Hyundai's new model naming structure, the luxury saloon will be badged the i70, and will be produced primarily for the US and Korean markets.

It will have to be at least $17K to $20K less than the Lexus and German Luxo boats in order to be competitive.

On the contrary, I think Hyundai would have to create so spectacular of a vehicle that ALSO undercuts the competition in price to achieve the status of say, Lexus. The car would have to generate a lot of buzz for its design, driving characteristics and quality. Though Hyundai is doing well, I'm not sure this car will meet these lofty goals.

I had a very high impression of the Sonata before I saw it in person. When I compared it back to back with the Saturn Aura, I was frankly shocked. The Aura's interior was much better in design and quality.

The Aura is an impressive vehicle for its class, and a major leap forward for GM.

I do not think this Hyundai will take off at the success they want it to. Hyundai is way too ambitious at the moment, which is admirable, but unrealistic. A Kia undercutting the Audi TT? A Hyundai undercutting a Lexus? Some will say that Lexus went through the same situation with the Europeans. I say the situation and conditions were totally different. Toyota was in a position in which they could afford to venture upmarket. Hyundai does not have the best impressions of quality right now. Toyota created a whole new marquee to sell their higher-end vehicles. It does not appear that Hyundai will do that. Two very different sets of circumstances.

That's what I've been saying... poor Hyundai. They have no idea what they're getting into.

Does Hyundai still offer a 10 year warranty?

"Hyundai's ambitious and now it's ready to take on BMW's 7-Series"

Dr. Evil told me this, and yet it looks like a Toyota Camry.

Uh oh, got you scared now...

You agreed that Hyundai can take on Lexus, but there's just no way in hell Hyundai can take on BMW?

That's what I was about to say too. If the current camry is smoothened out it will be this.

Hyundai to take on BMW. Why is this stupid article even on here. Hyundai can not even compete against low price cares. What a waste of time and space!

I'VE BEEN SAYING THE SAME THING!!!

They can't make the Hyundai Accent and the Hyundai Genesis/BH/"BMW competitor" in the same lineup! They need a new brand!
