What add-ons do you speak of??? The only "add-on" is the rear spoiler lip on the trunk...everything else is an actual integrated part of the car. I would hope that the trunk spoiler lip is optional as I would NOT have it on my car. I have an aversion to anything that must be attached to a car with double sided sticky tape.

I would rather have something that can actually be removed. The spoiler on my STi Requires that I get a diff trunk, one without bolt holes. That being said both the lip spoiler on the M3 and the spoiler on my STi are functional.

I actually like it...hell, I haven't liked a 3 series since the e30 m3 with the wide body.

Cool pictures Agent009. The M3 coupe is amazing. I can't wait for this one and the M3 sedan to hit show room floors.

I like the way it looks. The 3-Coupe is already way more eye-pleasing than the sedan. The hood bulge and exhaust area are questionable, but this does not look bad to me at all.

I'm thinking they'll tone down the hood a bit for the production version.

I wouldn't not buy this car because of it, though.

This car defines BMW as a brand. It's the ultimate! There's no way it will not perform better than the RS4, IS-F, and C AMG, there's just no way.

and you know this how? did you drive it yet, has anyone on this site tested it yet? have you ever driven the RS4? NO so why dont you wait till it comes out to make such arrogant and bold statment with absolutly no reasoning behind it! With those torque numbers its not going to be even close to as quick off the line as the RS4.

Forget the RS4. It's had its day(s) in the sun, but they'll be over soon. The king is back.

ricemaster-

its past your bedtime

seriously this is a ferrari 360 beater, while the RS4 is less thrilling than the old M3.

I own an audi and still realize their driving dynamics, though good, straight up suck compared with BMW and I've driven an RS4. The only thing it had on the old M3 was powerful brakes but they lacked in feel. The accelaration was less dramatic than the less powerful old M3.

Sorry guys, there's no one like BMW.

tom stop lying about owning an Audi and driving a RS4, the RS4 not only outperformed the old M3 it killed it in every which way possible. I am not saying the RS4 is gonna kill the new M3, but there is no way the M3 will kill the RS4, its just not possible. The performance numbers are gonna be so similar its gonna come down to brand loyalty and design to tell what the better car is.

Love the new M3, but seriously, EVERY magazine has gushed about the RS4's dynamics being better than the E46 M3's. It's also been rated higher than the M5.

And BMW built the engines for the Nazi warplanes as well as their motorcycles. You myopic vision is too biased to see the swastika behind the roundel.

I was driving behind a cool new BMW motorcycle today.

The Imperical Japanese and the Nazi Germans were allies during WWII.

Time to move on because we're friends now.

450hp/400lb.ft, 7,000RPM~7,500RPM red line

Prepare to be shocked by the rocket IS-F, 0-60 4.0~4.2s!

Aargh, RICEMASTER, you're an idiot.

Let me give you one example:

"M3 ain't got a chance (unless AUDIs poor reliablity becomes it's own undoing)."

Audi has better reliability than any other German manufacturer. But more relevantly, the M3 has more than just a slight chance at being the best in this company. It will have to fight to get to the top... but there's not a doubt in my mind that it will.

Does any other manufacturer do the one piece bottom to hold the crank? I've never seen that before and it looks pretty impressive. I don't know what it would gain, but it looks cool.

"CSL got beat by NSX-R and Nismo GT-R."

What does that have to do with anything? Both the Honda and the Nissan are $100K+ sports cars, and they were DESIGNED as sports cars.

The M3 was originally just a 3 Series coupe, an everyday coupe that happened to have great handling. Then they gave it a better suspension, better engine, better exhaust, better bodykit... and then they stripped it. And that's the CSL.

TheSailor, I know ONE German track car that will beat it... Porsche GT3. Or, better yet, GT3 RS. That would be sweet.

But, anyway, I support your arguments.

wow a V8, what an amazing feat of engineering. BMW must have invented a brand new paradigm of performance. Yeah !! Lets all dance in a Conga line .. singing peaens of praise to the German propeller heads.
Oh! Wait .. Ford invented these in the 1920's .. umm k ... what a bummer.. but i am sure the idrive module will add "ze wunderschaft to ze engine"
