Audi about to unleash 3 more RS models

Its official. Audi is going to unleash more RS models, 3 to be exact. This includes an RS badged TT, an RS6 with a V10 engine and likely 550 horsepower and an RS5 coupe to take on the new M3 head to head.

What does this means for consumers?

Audi will now offer RS versions of its A4 sedan, A5 coupe, TT roadster and A6 mid-size sedan. This combined with the R8 equals a whole selection of truly fast and capable high-performance cars from Ingolstad to take on the very best that BMW M has to offer.

what would you call the r8 w/ the gallardo v10? rs8 (not likely), r8-s, r10(hmmm)...hopefully it'll get the aforementioned rs6 v10 w/ 550bhp. any thoughts???

could be the RSR8, or just R8 V10, but with the gallardo V10 or the RS6 engine that things gonna kick some ass. How about a twin turbo charged V10 version of the gallardo. Its getting around 4 flat to 4.4 sec to 60 with 420Hp, if it gets a V10 twin turbo with 550Hp and say around 450-500lb-ft torque, where talking 911 turbo, SLR, ENZO performance times.

what they should do it make a R8 V10 with about 500HP and then a RS version twi n turbo charged version pushing 600HP

Over 500. 80hp increase wouldn't justify the price increase.

why cant more BMW fans be like you and not like AmazingRetard....ah bimmer. The competition b etween these 2 is why we keep getting amazing cars from them, one becomes the benchmark and then the other one tops it, and so on.

MMMmm… RS Goodness.

So, now its time to begin the quest into the creases of my couch for more change. Not enough. Damn. Time for boss bedevilment. I think I deserve a raise… and kids don’t really need college… and my house suddenly seems too big. I think a smaller one will do… and I really don’t need to retire do I?…

I have a coupe bias; but given the S6 either holds its own or beats the M5 in nearly every category (including interior, IMO) for less money, an RS6 (the full monte, as it were) could very well be the perfect car. A masterfully crafted blend of semi-practicality and sideways rubber burning madness. Yep, let the fanboy de-boosting onslaught begin, that’s my opinion.

If my criteria for "better" were limited to a drag race, my best car would be riced out Evo X, in which case it would be "better" than some Ferrari’s. Oddly though, I could care less about impressing some schmoe at a stop light.

My checklist is much, much longer than 0-60 times. All things considered (for instance, handling, stability, gear smoothness, power delivery refinement, torque curve, all-weather handling, cabin stitching, interior style, every day comfort, price) I’d rather have an S6 than an M5. That’s not belittling the M5 in any way. It’s still the benchmark of many measurements of mid-size sedan performance. That can’t be denied; but Audi fuses all the elements together in a more livable, balanced way... for less money. That’s better for me.

Now, add an R to that model name and Audi could very well take the crown on the remaining performance numbers too. THAT’s impressive and "better" is no longer sufficient. Perfect is a much better word.

The S6 has beaten the M5 in every comparison test, tifosi. Underpowered and all.

"Well, you can say the S6 is better than the M5 but it actually isn't."

Do I hear a biased OPINION being stated as fact?

Well, whaddaya know!

That is definitely prophetic! You have something going there!

The insanity lives on...

"In addition while most of these cars spend their time on the road and highways, here again the S6 will not be "better" than the M5. it would be spanked around if it tried to race with the M5. M5 has the handling and stability to match the extra power under the hood to rip off ahead. So the S6 isn't better than the M5 here as well."

The S6 is BUILT for high-speed stability. S cars are like AMG- good handling, better straight-line speed. I would know! The S6 has been noted for its amazing solidity on the autobahns of Germany, and we did see a video in the middle of last year featuring an S6 going past 300km/h, perfectly stable, in the rain.

"Now while I'll say the S6 is a amazing car and the better everyday car at a lower price, the M5 still would outdo the S6 because the M & S differentiate and stand for "Sports Performance" "

This I agree with. You yourself just said the S6 was a "better" car for the average owner. BTW, I do think the S6's interior is significantly better than the M5's. Even the base 3 Series has a nicer interior than the 5 Series, IMO. Worst in BMW's lineup.

I do love the M5, and recognize that the RS6 is its true competitor. But the fact that so many performance magazines favor the "underpowered" S6 is an accomplishment in itself.

why are you such a jack@ss, the reason the new M3 will be as good as it will be , is because they know they have to top the RS4 or it will be a major dissapointment, not sure why i am explaining it to a 14 year old, but just thought you should know.

I also doubt the M3 will be better then the RS4 anyway, but it will still be a great car.

the RS5 is the coupe version of the RS4. it plain and simple, so the RS5 will be the direct competitor to the M3 coupe, and the RS4 will be a direct competitor to the M3 sedan, and the IS-F will try to compete but fail miserably.

It is cute when the new M3 likely will not out-accelerate the RS4. The torque numbers on the new M3 are WEAK.

The A5/RS5 is not a very attractive car compare to the RS4. I thought the BMW 3 Series was boring than I see the new C-class and now the A5. You German keep your car I keep my Lexus. The RS4 is very aggressive, why can't they done the same with the RS5?

"Lexus," the RS5 isn't out yet, and won't be out for another year or two.

Do you have magic powers that let you see into the future, where the RS5 is? If so, how does it drive?

You're looking at the S5, my confused friend. It isn't supposed to be as aggressive as the RS4...

Wow .. Please Audi, release more overpriced crap so we can reach the Vlhalla land where we can pay $100K for Audi badged Golf.. Oh .. and dont forget to add Quattro along with the 80's advert to remind us of what an overwieght pig your vehicle is . And yeah.. stick in a V8 while your at it. I mean at $3.50 gas, we americans would like nothing more then a 400 Hp car the size of a skateboard that gives 12 mpg especially in L.A. traffic cause we can rev the engine all day while inching along ...
