Ultimate Aero fails to top Bugatti’s top speed record

SSC’s Ultimate Aero failed to top Bugatti’s top speed record of 253 mph for a road-legal production car. Earlier this month, SSC claimed that it will begin testing on March 21, 2007 in an attempt to top the record for the world’s fastest production legal car. Using it’s Ultimate Aero, which has a 6.3 liter engine that produces 1,183 horsepower, SSC closed down a 12 mile stretch on Nevada’s Highway 93. With only two attempts made due to weather conditions, the Ultimate Aero was able to reach a top speed of 230 mph.

Team leader Jerod Shelby and driver Rick Doria said that they are confident they can top Bugatti EB Veyron 16.4 of 253 mph. Another attempt will be made in a couple of months after more preperations.

23mph is a HUGE gap at those sorts of speeds. If they were drag limited to 230, they're dreaming if they think a few minor mods will allow them to break 253.

Who cares! When the IS-F will come it will topple the bugatti and will achieve 250+ mph. We all know that bugatti is shaking in its boots now! Not to mention the GS-F will get about 260+. Also, the underpowered yaris ( about 500+ hp in real numbers ) can out handle the bugatti anytime. Who cares about bugatti, lexus is king :).

Dont't forget when they supercharge the LS600 hybrid that will be good for at least 900hp. Yeah Buggati aint got nothing on Lexus.

Even if it top the Bugatti Veyron speed, I still the Veyron better anyway. And the Bugatti Veyron look way better than that Aero thingy.

Since aero has more HP than Bugatti I would say that bugatti is a lot more aerodinamic.(that's for those who said that bugatti isn't aerodinamic on another aero-bugatti topic).
