Cadillac can't compete with the S-Class even though it may try. Cadillac is an American brand and people who liked Cadillac may hop on the band wagon but world wide there's no way Cadillac can beat Mercedes in the top range. Lexus LS has yet to be top in a world wide scale. Hell, some people don't even know what Lexus are in some parts of the world. The heavily marketed USDM is the melting pot for the US consumers and it's done very well. Cadillac too is in the melting pot as well in the USDM but as for the DTS being an S-Class competitor, not a chance.

What makes you think Cadillac can not compete with MB? Yes, the S class is a great car. But if someone build an equally nice car, they can compete. People rag on Lexus because it lacks a heritage. Cadillac is the epidomy of heritage. I mean the President of the free world drives around in a cadillac. Kennedy was shot in a cadillac. Cadillac is a part of American history and will be part of the future. Even today, Cadi is the second best selling luxury brand. Recently, it was first. GM has the ability to bring glory back to this country, and they will surpass the S class.... just watch

Like I said on a world wide scale it will be hard to compete against the likes of MB, Audi, BMW and even Lexus. Just like you said it's a epidomy of heritage and I don't deny that. However that heritage only remains on North American soil.

People of course will think Cadillac as a luxury brand but I do too. Now having said that, they need to revampe their 'flagship' to even have a chance to contend. They need to get the old man's car image out of people's minds and start entering the markets where NEW MONEY is the hip thing. We all know it's comfortable but the look of the DTS is horrible.

We'll talk when Cadillac comes out with a better looking car. A good designer is what they need.

Cadillac is good but in many part of Asia people don't like American car. Most rich people BMW, MB, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, Acura instead of the Cadillac.

It not like the 60s where everyone want Cadillac in America. I don't think Cadillac can ever compete with the German brand, especially MB and BMW. It just the history and prestige that MB and BMW has over the Cadillac.

Between the MB S-class and the Cadillac, the MB S-class anyday. The MB S-class is the closest thing you can get to a Maybach in the MB brand of course.

i think if they released the cadillac 16 the way it was in concept form it would sell for 85,000- 120,000. people loved the concept and yes caddy isnt on the same level as bmw or benz but that cadillac 16 was hot as hell.....

If Cadillac were to build a true competitor to Mercedes and BMW, I think they would be able to regain a lot of their lost buyers. They have already proven this with CTS and the Escalade. With those two high volume cars, they have gained many new customers that they could move up through the model lines.
