Nissan Skyline gets 621 miles on one tank of fuel

Is it me or does the skyline look exactly like the G35 sedan? That cannot help the sales of the G35 at all

confusing ... same car .. different names ?

same with jetta (us) = bora (eu) but that's still vw.

these guys jump from one car maker to another.

16.3km-per-liter means 6,14 liters per 100km, which is not so good. Mercedes Blueteck makes 5,5 liters per 100km and not only Mercedes!

Nissan should work harder to impress Europe!

By my calculations, thats about 38.2 miles per gallon combined! Not bad!

Wow! that really impressive and this car is no weakling, it has 225 hp.

You'll see that a much bigger car (A8) than this Nissan/infinity can do a much better job in both fuel economy and power (and luxury, of course).

Despite the fact that the top gear guy out played himself to get the 40mpg he got, that still leaves the car with a decent "Error" margin, easily to get about 35mpg. Remember it's a much bigger car, heavier, and still ...

-this Nissan (as they say up there) gets an avg of 16.3km-per-liter
-16 (kilometers per liter) = 37.6343335 miles per gallon

Almost the same like a 3 (4 or 5) years old Audi A8(1287km=800 miles on one full tank=19galons).

If you want to compare both performance and fuel economy, than the new Lexus LS460 is king. The Lexus LS460 has a V12 performance and an emission of a V6 engine. It can do 0-60 in the lower 5.0 seconds range.

The LS460??? V12 performance??? HaHa! In your dream. Please get your fact straight before you post.

Wow, and I heard it does 0 to 60 in 6.2 minutes!

Most fairly fuel efficient cars (30 mpg highway) can get 45+ with 50 mph and such tricks as taking off the mirrors, taping up, high tire pressure. Of course none of this is practical. Not saying that they did, but who knows.

Wow you guys are very quick to point out the accomplishments of MB Bluetec and the Audi 4.0TDI, yet you may have forgotten that this is a gasoline engine in the Skyline. OF COURSE IT DOESN'T HAVE THE EFFICIENCY OF A DIESEL! Also the Bluetec and the 4.0TDI are much more expensive than this model. If you want to compare how about comparing equal engines in size and price range i.e. the 2.5 I5 from VW and the 2.5 V6 from MB in the C230. The VW EPA averages are about 25mpg and the MB has averages of 19 to 29. So this is in the category of what the Skyline has, whose engine is also much more powerful. Don't compare diesel cars with more technology and a much higher price to gasoline cars, it isn't fair to compare the fuel efficiency of a regular gasoline engine to a diesel engine (hybrids excluded).

Kart1, thank you for the correction bro :) yeah it the Lexus LS600hl that has the V12 performance and emission of a V6. The Lexus LS600hl has a performance of a V12 with emission of a V6, not the LS460.

BTW, folks, this would get something like 20/30 here EPA rating. Maybe a bit higher, but not by much.

it boggles the mind that infiniti doesnt get this engine for a lower model G35. i mean come on, we all know the money makers are the IS250, C230, and 325i (now 328i). of course none of you would be caught dead with slowass cars like these of course ;) but its a no brainer business-wise. add to that a 620 miles range, it easily passes all others in its class. dont know what the engineers did (high pressure tires, removed side mirrors, going downhill haha...). still good though...

how about 1397 miles on a mere 12.8 tank of gas? with a STOCK prius. (granted, not a road burner like the 225 hp nissan, but OH, the mileage!)

and yes, this was on the HIGHWAY, not just city driving!

You know that this figure was achieved by pussy-footing the car around, employing every possible fuel-saving driving technique one could muster?

It is possible to achieve very good economy in any car using this style of driving, however, driven in a 'normal' manner, this MPG could not be repliacated.

Basically a PR stunt with no 'real world' credibility.

and here's what those mileage maniacs do with an Insight:
