New York Preview: 2008 Cadillac STS gets a revamp
GM's assault on NYC's Jacob Javits Center continues apace. With HUMMER and Buick already well-represented, the luxury division, Cadillac, gets in on the action, as well. The facelifted 2008 STS gets a most welcome makeover inside and out. The new corporate grille design featured on the '08 CTS finds its way onto the nose of the STS, and it looks great. Also making an appearance are the trendy side extractors also featured on the Escalade and CTS (and Hyundai Tiburon).

There's plenty more to discuss, however, so follow the jump for the rest of the story.

Love the new exterior treatment, but with out the new SLS interior it only gets one thumb up from me. GM don't go back to half assing it. However overall it is better than the last one. Just gotta keep up with the interiors.

Probably an improvement. I like that "in your face" grill proclaiming "here I am, an American luxury car!". Although Cadillac has to be careful not to go overboard on the side vents, rear wing, and tail lights that are getting a little too close for comfort to the Altima.

and if cadillac tail fins ever look like the altima's its not because the nissan altima is being copied cadillac's have had lights like that since before the altima was a thought, and before nissans/datsuns were even sold here

GM is starting to lose it again, so china will have a nicer version of this car than we will, the cars biggest problem was its low rent interior and to fix that they added metal, and new wood, that should be a hard sell a car that costs more, is about the same size as the cts, but the lower priced cts will have a nicer interior

Always been a huge fan of the STS, except for the rather low-grade interior. Does anyone know if there are any new interior photos? If Cadillac implements the interior that we saw a month or two ago (the same as the SLS) then this STS will be a smashing success.

After the interior upgrade, engine upgrades. My opnions for engines:

DI 3.6L V6 (base)
DI 4.6L V8 Northstar (still has to be developed tho)

Leave the 4.4L STS-V engine alone, its a monster in itself. Maybe DI in the future.

The grill is distracting, but I like it, it's American, big, loud and in charge. I still prefer the 5-series exterior design though.
