Cadillac V12 Axed?

HOLDEN’S engineering chief has flatly rejected reports that the company is developing a V12 engine and platform for a new flagship Cadillac model that would rival the Mercedes-Benz S-class.

“It’s definitely not happening,” Holden’s executive director of engineering Tony Hyde told GoAuto this week.

The automotive world has been buzzing in recent days over reports quoting General Motors vice-chairman Bob Lutz as saying that development work is “well under way” in Australia for the car, which would be based on the Sixteen concept shown at the 2003 Detroit motor show.

when caddy, along with packard, was about to release rumored v12s in the 1930s, caddy surprised the world by bringing out a v16 instead!

within just a few years, they brought out a SECOND v16 engine. (less costly to produce and sell).

how times have changed. the general now has to FARM OUT development.

How is GM "Farming out" development to Australia when it runs and owns the company that's producing the engine? Holden's infrastructure is best suited to make an engine like this. It wouldn't make sense to pour money into another brand to make this engine when there's already a foundation for it in Holden.
