I don't know why Porsche is trying to hit the market for the mass consumer. They should be a super car brand that they were to begin with.

Mmm but the Carrera GT is a super car isn't it? The only difference between them and the other super car brands is it's pricing. No other brand is as affordable as Porsche. They have an SUV Porsche but Lamborghini also had the LM002 in the past and they are a super car brand. I guess it depends on how you look at it. Ferrari , Lamborghini, Aston Martin all have higher priced cars but performance wise and how they make a 6 run 0-60 is simply amazing. On top of that they are rear engine cars too. I think they should have some credit in building great performing automobiles.

I think the 911 Turbo is a automotive marvel. I guess since there are full on flashy luxury cars and there are understated. I guess Porsche is understated. I kind of like that instead of being in a loud obnoxious Ferrari and Lamborghini all the time a Porsche is a car that can be a daily driver.

Their quite rare too like it's counterparts. Regardless of my views or yours, i'm sure we both agree they are of high quality builds. The Carrera GT is a masterpiece. They sure are capable of going up market to compete against Italy's best. Perhaps they don't feel the need to as they cater to a more broad range of consumers.

yuppies love it because it means they can say they drive a porsche and only have to pay 50k for it. oh im sorry, people actually use the cayenne off road? my mistake.

Being a Porsche affictionado, I hate to say this but... What do you think the Cayman is?

It's almost funny (but not since Porsche is my favorite car company) that they are repeating the problems of the early 90's when they were selling too many models and misjudged the market. Now they are threatening to sell a sedan and two different SUV's? I think this is a big mistake...and not just in the long-term for diluting the brand.

It seems to me that Porsche is trying to position itself to always make money. I'm not the biggest fan of an SUV smaller than the Cayenne. But I do think the Panamera is a good idea along with a somewhat smaller sedan. I think that in some segments Porsche will be a great alternative to BMW 5 series and the E Class as well as maybe the 3 series and C Class. The cars need their own unique design language and not to look like 4 door 911's though. I would love to be able to get into a small Porsche sedan in the 45-60 thousand range. I think a lot of other people would too.
And remember Porsche just like Mercedes aren't rally all that expensive to get into but they kill you with options.
