2008 Subaru Impreza WRX - New Offical Images!
I hate to break it out to you but from the looks of it, there’s no hope whatsoever that the first set of scanned pictures we saw a couple of days ago might have been “chops”. First there’s a new set of official pics that Edmunds discovered… lying around the net with the quote: “Original photo source unknown” and second, we found a new scanned image from Motortrend Magazine, informing us that, “The MT video crew tagged along on our exclusive (…) photo shoot and scored behind-the-scenes loo at the new WRX”.

To be honest I’ve been left speechless with the Impreza hatch’s looks. What the heck where they thinking about when they designed the car? Even Kia's look better (or rather much better) than this dull-ugly duckling. At least from what we’ve heard they haven’t mucked around with the mechanics with the WRX getting a slightly uprated version of the current 225Hp 2.5-liter boxer engin

The top port of the new grill reminds me of the Chrysler badge.

This design is a BIG improvement over past Subaru autos. It has a taut, Euro look without all the dumb add-ons a lot of Asian cars have. They must have hired new and better stylists.
The problems:
For those who are diabled/old/bad knees, why didn't they come up with at least a 5 sp. automatic? 4 spds belong in 1998.
I never have liked those clear glass tail lights. Looks kind of cheap to me. Why imitate Mazda?

I have to say that this is very disappointing - this is not innovative at all on a vehicle where the loyal drivers like to see some design risks taken. This is really watered down for the masses and has apparently taken a trip through the Mazda design studio - come on this is a slightly adjusted Mazda3 isnt it? WOW, if the Evo X comes as promised it will really eat Subaru's lunch in this segment.

Don't know this is a car you probally have to see in person to get a true reaction i guess? Kinda looks like a small hatch back with a low slung euro look and ground effects make it even more bumber car like. Subie just likes to play in a different league overall, they make good machines that the public either gets what they are doing right out of the box or totally rejects it and moves on to another MFG.
