SPY PHOTOS: Spies get the first shots of the new Maserati Spyder!
While people are still stunned by the beauty of the new Maserati GranTurismo at the Geneva car show, the engineers of Maserati keep working with yet another new car on a lonely ice track in northern Sweden. The new Spyder, based on a shorted platform from the GT will make its debut in Frankfurt during the IAA in September.

Front end and rear will look the same as the GT; except for some minor changes like the exhaust pipes Also technically it will be identical to the GT, with its 4.2 litre V8 engine delivering 405 bhp and 6-speed ZF automatic transmission.

The Spyder will feature a retractable hardtop, and we can just hope that the roof construction will be as good looking closed as it probably will when it is open. It’s surely not easy designing a sporty and good looking CC, especially when you also have to fit in some luggage space, but looking at the GT, we can be sure that Pininfarina is going to be successful with the 2 seater Spyder, too.

Okay... they are quite well-known. NOT for quiet people. Have you ever heard the exhaust on a Quattroporte? Addictive. They ARE known for "fancy cars."

I would take an Aston over a Maserati any day...

And Jaguar, do they really contend with the likes of Aston Martin and Maserati...because I never though so.

AM, while I adore their cars, are more show and less go. They're true beauties, and will stand the test of time. However, they don't live up to their supercar image in terms of performance. It's no huge disappointment, but for true driving fun, you could have a Porsche... or a Maserati.

Their cars are fantastically-engineered, and IMO just as sexy as Astons, if not QUITE as prestigious.

They were talking about the Jaguar XKR.
