Al Gore Dumps His Lexus For A Hybrid Mercury

Al Gore Dumps His Lexus For A Hybrid Mercury
Al Gore is looking to make a statement with his two new rides- one for the environment with his acquisition of the two brand new Mercury Mariner Hybrid.

Before his "green move" , Gore was driving around in a you guessed it a Lexus which most likely was not in hybrid form. On a side note, the Lexus model was most likely a LS- for him to able to trade it in and get two - Mariner Hybrids.

He could alway get a hybrid Lexus GS, RX or wait a little bit and get the Lexus LS600hl. Yeah...I guess he want to support American product, so I don't blame him for that.

That article was painful to read.

I think Gore has had the Mariners for a while, and I read about the Clinton mariner a long time ago. I think it is bulletproof.

What a fat ass loser.
He once said on T.V. about global warming, " The Earth is having a fever." I also don't understand how he got an emmy for his movie about global warming. Why should he be telling us to use less electricity if he uses more electricity in a month than us in a year?

Carboy,

Do you have the same size house as he?

Do you have the same appliances?

He also runs a business out of his house, do you? Last I heard, he pays extra for green energy tickets so people in other states can use wind power, do you? His house is currently under a remodel for energy efficiency, is yours? He went out of his way to buy hybrid vehicles. Did you? I think he very well practices what he preaches. You dont have to agree with what he's saying (I dont most of the time) but at least his actions and words are going the same direction unlike most of the people that hate him so much.

Just an ignorant comment. Check into the details beyond what the media wants you to see.

At least Gore is using his celebrity (and political charm) to reach millions of open-minded listeners.

I remember the time when ex-Presidents & ex-Vice Pres left office and simply "disappeared" until there was news of their death. I liked that he didn't cowel away after his defeat in the Presidential elections, but came back into the media with a defined purpose and is backing what he says with what he is actually doing.

...and Oscar...good for him. How many politicians receive a major award for doing something truely positive?

GM builds better products than Ford? I guess you don't know sh*t about cars. First and foremost, most of the GMC cars are being built by their parent company, which is KIA. DUH. I'll give you an example: Aveo's, Cobalt's and equinox's are as good as a Kia. Aight? Have you noticed the 10 year or 100.000 miles warranty on GMC cars?

You're retarded. The only two vehicles sold in NA by GM that are made by Daewoo are the Aveo and the new Saturn Vue. Cobalt? Only NA. Equinox? Only NA. And GMC doesn't make cars. I assume that you meant GM. And why does having confidence in your product (by putting a long warranty on it) make it automatically a "Kia" as you put it?
Why don't you check out the awards that the Daewoo arm of GM has been getting. I'll be very happy to continue getting the excellent cars that this company now makes since GM restructured them. The aveo is number 1 in it's class and the new Vue is getting excellent prerelease reviews.
For another viewpoint, why don't you take a look who's crashing and burning currently and can't get themselves on any track (Ford) and who is back on track now making vehicles that are getting good reviews and consistently improving (GM).

Roller, an Astro is a Chevrolet that was introduced in 1984, as a 1985 model. It was discontinued right about at GM's worst time in it's own econimic history. This was about a year and a half ago. THere is hope for Ford and Chrysler, but they obviously aren't there yet. What else don't you know about?

"THere is hope for Ford and Chrysler, but they obviously aren't there yet. "

Hmm... I beg to differ.

GM is doing the BEST of the three of them at the moment.

Let's take a snapshot: Mercedes is struggling to sell the underwhelming, truck-spewing Chrysler.

Ford is still losing billions, and they're trying to cut their premium brands.

GM, on the other hand, is on the road to being profitable this year, and with their new actually DECENT crossovers, they have a new breadwinner! There's also their new halo cars-- Sky, Solstice, upcoming Camaro, G8 GXP... not to mention the supercar-eating Z06.

I'm no GM supporter, but I give credit where credit is due. Ford is lagging, Chrysler is pulling M-B down, and GM is improving steadily. Their quality is up, their desirability is up, their stock is up. They're making the right moves. I commend them. They'll put up a good fight with Toyota for the #1 spot this year, and beyond.

wrong...sebastianmejia17 I am a supporter of Ford but still wrong only the Chevy's r being built by DAEWOO not KIA that too only a few of them for USA the South American versions and Asian versions are all built by Daewoo.Chickie GM doesnt build better products remember the Aztek? The problem with Ford was that they never updated their cars and never used materials other then plastic. however the newer models r a huge improvement

I've bought a new Ford truck about every 4 years for the last 20. Never one single regret. I dont think the people who buy the F150 regret buying the best selling vehicle in the world for the past 30 years. There is a reason people keep coming back you know...

You're making sweeping generalizations that simply aren't true.

Why not get a Ciivic. Better fuel economy and less emmisions. A hybrid that gets worse fuel economy than many other vehicles is only for hype and hypocritical green cred.

Who cares about what he drives...how bout what he flies around in. His hobnobbing around in a private jet pollutes more before takeoff than his little Mariner's will save in a year. Also, carbon offsets are a bunch of BS...just a liberal feel-good so they don't feel guilty. And who cares if I or anyone else has a huge house or non-energy efficient appliances, we aren't the one's running around screaming about some "theory" on global warming, while he buys some stupid "offset" while telling us to live in a cave. If GW was such a major problem, he'd be more like Ralph Nader, instead he's just making a killing on scaring the shit out of people...with the media's help. I just hope I'm around for when "global cooling" comes back around, so I can see these idiots blame something else for it...probably George Bush's fault.

Al Gore is as concerned about the enviroment as a blind man is concerned about driving. I find it funny he buys a hybrid car after everyone finds out about his very liberal use of the energy he says is so precious. Dont' give me that crap about running anything out of his house either; unless he's running a damn factory out of there.Oh wait, he invented the internet so maybe he needs the power to run cray mainframes which figure out new ways for him to tell people "Do as I say not as I do". I just can't believe that people actually flock to ingest his verbal diarrhea.
