Aston Martin workers vote to strike!

Aston Martin should go out of business and let these union workers start their own car company.

I agree. They should never go out of business. Their the marque British Sports/Luxury car maker. They make beautiful engines & beautiful cars.

actually Ford makes the engines for Aston Martin and still will even though they sold a majority stake in AM. But I agree, the cars and engines are beautiful

I mean you have a guy that puts tyres on wheels and he wants to go on strike so why doesn't he quit and start his own company if he thinks he can run a better automobile manufacture?

Ford doesn't make bad engines but it's just their house products that are on the budget side. The Aston Martin engines are beautiful. It's the highest quality Ford can build for any car. The engine made for the Ford GT is also brilliant as well.

I think with proper funding any car company can develope outstanding performing sports or luxury cars. For some it may break them and for others it may make them.

For a second I though once pro-drive acquired them they short changed the workers and started cheap labor...I doubt they would...but dont be surprised if they did opt for it...it goes to mexico or india. Theres quality for ya...

but thats highly doubtful.

They could opt for lower Operating Costs / Overheads but then guess what ??

The Buying public would not pay so much for their vehicles.

The Huge Premiums Commanded on these vehicles are based largely on the fact that so many Man Hours {British Man Hours} are spent on each of these vehicles, Hence if no more British Man Hours, No more Ridiculous Premiums.

how can 70% of the voters vote for a strike and 76% vote for action short of a strike (i.e. voted to do something about the problem but not to strike)? I guess you were allowed to vote for both? How much sense does that make?

Once again fat management pigs drinking from the cash trough thinking they are the only people at the company. Without labor (skilled) there is no Aston Martin. These people in upper management tell themselves all day long that they are the best not to mention the people who work under them encouraging the same. Wake up auto management of the world you are replaceable and in most instances your horrible track records speak for themselves.

Aston Martin is the kind of company that should be protected of going out of business by a special inheritance law

Some facts for you guys....Ford has nothing to do with the design process or manufacturing process of Aston Martin. Aston Martin hand-builds their OWN engines in an Aston Martin engine factory in Cologne, Germany.

Also, "premiums" have nothing to do with British working wages. The cars are expensive becasue they are handcrafted, the build process is long, thebuild materials are extremely expensive and it is one of the most heavily engineered cars in the industry. Aston actually operates on very narrow profit margins.
