Report: Chery to build Dodge Hornet and a mini-car for Chrysler
Chery, a privately-owned Chinese car manufacturer that produces the little city car QQ, will be producing two cars for Chrysler that will be in sold in dealerships across the United States. The first car to go into production is the Dodge Hornet, based on the Hornet concept Automotive News reports. A production version of the Hornet concept “is fixed, but no final contract has been signed,” says an executive at a European company supplying Chery.

The second car will be called the S12 and will be a mini-car for emerging markets like South America and Eastern Europe. The mini-car will be first offered to the Chinese market once it goes into production.

Why is Chrysler coming out with soo many new products? Seriously, its one more tacky looking product after another. To top it all off, how American is it to produce a Chrysler in China? It's just funny!!!!!Chrysler already has quality control problems with their vehicles and now they are going to have a new model built in China!!! Haha----That doesn't seem like real American muscle or a macho image to me. American car companies are struggling!!!!

Chrysler hasn't been a true "American" car company for some time. They were owned by zee Germans for a while now.

It is amazing that Chrysler is producing so many new vehicles and is up for bids at the same time. I'm waiting for Dr. Z to post Chrysler up on ebay - or at least overstock. com just like the Chrysler Crossfire.

I hope your comment has no racism behind it. Just remember most of the clothing you wear comes from China whether it's low end or high end. If it was that low quality you wouldn't buy it to begin with.

So why don't you let China build this car and then we judge from there. You make it seem like America has always built high quality products. Check out the GM lineup and the Ford company. Have you seen their interiors? cheapest of the cheap plastics out there. Bad fine finishing and fitment.

I'm sure Chery has been paid a good sum to hire or train the builders so quality has been optimized. Chrysler knows where they stand and they need to build quality and reliable products.
