If this is true the original report date is unfortunate, but a welcomed addition to the Lexus lineup.

It would be a great vehicle when produced, a performance SUV with Lexus quality and reliabilty.

i would like to see lexus establish the "F" moniker first before the start dropping bigger engines and slapping the "F" badge on every single model.

They are in a hurry to catch up in this market.

So if they go too slow then they may lose momentum. If they release fast, they may stumble but at least they have the resources to get up and correct.

If it were my choice get out in the market and fine tune.

i agree w/ u 009, though my main concern is not the pace of the "F" cars but whether the final production cars live up to their "performance" branded badge. the is-f needs to do battle, AND I DONT CARE WHICH CAR IT IS WITH, as long as its comparable. win or lose, its performance will determine if consumers can relate the "F" w/ m,amg,s/rs-line, etc. lexus should stop playing catch-up (waiting for the m3 launch imo) and let loose its is-f onto the world.

Well they have done it before and faltered and this is the second attempt in this market. But their audience is extremely forgiving for them, it would take one massive screw up to alienate their fan base.

The RX is already one of the most successful luxury SUVs on the market, smooth and reliable. An RX-F model will only endear it to more smart buyers.
p.s., MLs are the vehicle of choice for soccer moms, and the X5 of badge whores.

Most people do not buy SUVs to test the limits of their driving skills. Maybe a kid on mushrooms might, but not the typical driver that a high performance SUV
is aimed at. Their is small demand and market for this type of vehicle.
However, it will no doubt have a strong competitor in a RX-F model. The Europeans will eventually come to realize what North Americans already know, that Lexus is a serious player in whatever category they enter.

Of course, mromar1 has the facts about the quality and driving feel of the ML and X5. This is because he heads to the track and tests these vehicles every weekend when he is not under house arrest.

Nobody wants chrome rims on their car that's why you don't see any. I think Lexus is moving too fast with their F brand. After the IS it should be the GS that gets the F treatment. The current RX model should not have an F badge. As for the next one, well why not.

This is a joke. If it's not, Lexus is desperately trying to be AMG. Slab an F badge on every model, give them overpowered engines and sloppy handling.

RX-F is the answer to a question noone asked. RX350 is good enough. It's just not a performance SUV. My older son, referring to my wife's RX330, said it was like "four sticks of butter gliding down the road." Would you say that's a good base for a performance vehicle?

When Mercedes makes an AMG variant of every vehicle, Lexus has to make an F version of every one of theirs.

Lets see, Audi, Mercedes and BMW all have performance divisions, but when Lexus starts one all the badge whores come out and condem it. I'm not crying when BMW and Mercedes enter the value priced segment with the 1 series and the B class.

Audi only has 1 RS at the moment, will have 3 (4,5,6).
Also 5 S models, which aren't superpowerful monsters.
An RX-F, a car never designed for performance, is not a good idea.
And the MLAMG looks so cool, although for some reason they seem really common where I live...

david ... that is not it at all ... You just like to make ridiculous statements and then dont have the gall to back them up. Personally, I think lexus will do well eventually in this segment. I just think that they are moving way too fast. first they announce the IS-F, LF-A and now the potential GS-F and RX-F. Only problem is that the RX right now targets 80% women buyers and now they are trying to open up to selling more to men. huh? So lexus wants to exclude the very buyers that help make them so successful. That would be like BMW building a quiet and ultra smooth luxury sedan. There is no point to this. The lexus IS-F is not even out yet, but most think that it wont fair too well compared to the M3 & RS4. Lets face it. They are the benchmark in the performance compact segment.

I'm going to be devastated if this is a joke. The RX-F will crush the ML63AMG and Cayenne Turbo. It wouldn't even be a competition! If they make an RX-F Coach Edition, this could quite possibly (After the LS) be the most perfect car. I'll take mine with chrome rims.

yeah this will def be best in class, a high powered camry wagon, that is competing with cars that already handle without being the high performance version, the rx drives like a old buick its handling is crap, i can only imagine what "if, yeah right" a real rxf was made would handle...judgin by the is im guessing a body kit, 22's, side vents, and hood bulges with an interior/exterior that screams a 16 year old guy driving a civic designed this thing

RX is not even in the same class as a Cayenne and ML63. Before you make a statement at least make sure they're in the same segment.

Wow a lot of opinions here. Yes the RX is a very successful model for lexus, yes it is big with the ladies, no lexus is not really about performance 1st. But like it or not Toyota knows their $hit and by adding a perfomance line to he!! EVERY model they offer...bring it on!! I would drive a 400hp SUV that will likely be refined, less expensive than it's German counterparts. The F will make big waves in the highline market. Will it be the best probably not but will contend for sure. Let's judge when we get outr ars in one....
