Battle of the V10 Uber Wagons S6 vs. M5

This is one of those comparisons that could go either way depending on who was doing the testing. Thankfully this was done by the Germans themselves who know more about both of these cars then "we" (Americans) do.

Good job to the Audi...I'm already saving my pennies.

Auto Bild's opinion seems to differ from the general consensus of the American publications.

These wagons really aren't so "distant."

But I still think it a bit unfair for them to be comparing the heavier, less-powerful S6 to the M5. Why not the E63? That would be a much better comparison. Both RWD, both 500hp.

Can't wait for the RS6, though.

Actually, the first line is wrong. This is directly in line with the consensus of American mags- that the S6 is easier to live with, and the difference between the two is marginal. Go S6!

I would take the E63. It's more civilized on city streets. You don't buy a wagon to race it everywhere you go. The M5's shakey gear box I don't like. Also when you start the car it sounds like a diesel.

The e63 should have been in this comparison as well. I've seen other reviews between the 3 and the M5 came last. I forgot which article it was that I saw online.

I'd have the S6 or the E63 if I was buying an estate, but if I was having a saloon...S6 or M5. It's difficult to decide.

IF you look at how they scored it the audi only won because of cost.

I actually saw an Audi S6 (sedan) today and I could BARELY tell the difference. The L.E.D. DRL's are hella cool and the particular one I saw was black, it was very nice. I would take an M5 over it anyday though.

I think the S6 has better handling than the BMW because of it's AWD but the BMW will probably have outstanding performance
