You're right enthusiastx11. There are higher standards of journalism, automotive or otherwise, to which Autospies (agent001 et al) have clearly decided not to hold themselves to.
Hence the Infiniti-EX headline, and a picture of Lexus below. As for the spies themselves- you can make the bucks without selling out you know- but only if you want to.

But then you'd have nothing to talk about.

If it bothers you THAT much, instead of complaining about it, leave...

Ha ha, this EX is the best looking small crossover I've ever seen. Pretty sure it's performance will be just as great.

Okay these guys (auto spies) corrected the problem a little bit, as for the EX >clean looking,great size, and finally a company that saw what a Subuaru Outback type wagon can be and made a crossover that bears a luxury name with a always nice six, this thing is going to be a winner from the get go.

I have to say besides all the Lexus love here, Autospies always has the MOST pictures from all the auto shows!

This looks sweet! The onrush of luxo-trucklets is interesting, and by 2009 there will be a huge crop of them.

This is actually quite nice looking! Infiniti is beginning to look decent finally.

The 2008 EX35 will definitely take sales from soccer mom special Lexus RX330 due to its more bold exterior styling and luxurious interior appointments. The 2009 FX will now seat seven comfortably!

The current FX is still the RX competitor, so don't count it out just yet.

Also, apparently, the next RX will also have seven seats. So it will still compete with the FX.

I think Infiniti finally nailed it with this. If the can carry over 90% to production they could have another winner on their hands. Great interior, unfortunately it will probably be the the first thing to go, that and the glowing head rests.

As much as most of you will hate to hear it, Japanese automakers are here to stay and they will slowly eat away at the competition if the competition continues to only do what they are use to doing.

For example, BMW's are excellent cars and even still I think offer arguably the best ride quality out there for the money. However, one thing BMW's suck at (I'll include most other german automakers in this as well) are the interiors. Aside from the $75k+ vehicles from Mercedes, BMW, etc. the interior sucks. Sure it looks pretty decent, but it's still very cheap. Matte black plastic around the radio's, etc., fake wood, and LEATHERETTE STANDARD ON A FREAKING $40K+ VEHICLE (WTF!).

Sure, I like ride quality, but if I'm spending $40K on a car I'd like to think I'd get a nice interior with REAL materials as well. This is one area that the japanese are slowly picking their way at. Some of you will disagree with me, but the Infiniti materials (especially the m35/m45) are gorgeous and provide much better materials and comfort than a BMW or Mercedes.

The way I look at it, Germans are focusing heavily on ride quality and EXTERIOR LOOKS. Which is why you always see these articles about those cars just being a 'showmans' car because in a way they are. If it looks great from the outside but sucks on the inside then it's a showman's car because guess what: are you driving the car from the outside? No. You're on the inside. But everyone is looking at you because it looks nice on the outside.

I was just about to buy a 335i and was still amazed to see leatherette standard and cheap dash materials for a car that's $50k+ if you add the nicer options. I held off on the time being because as much as i like the smooth ride of BMW I just can't spend that kind of money (again) on a car that's cheap on the inside. I'd sacrifice exterior eye candy for something that's super comfortable and nice on the inside anyday and right now I'm seriously considering getting an Infiniti M45.

Just watch what Lexus (not a big fan of these guys), Infiniti, etc. start doing over the next few years. BMW, mercedes, Audi, etc. have all shown that they aren't really willing to give you a really nice interior and would rather provide gorgeous exterior so you can look good on the highway as you sit inside the interior with what you could easily get in a pontiac.

And for a bit of clarification, when I say "cheap", I'm not referring to how it "looks". I'm talking about how it "feels" and what it "is". Basically, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc. "look" nicer than a cheaper car. But, the materials are the same as in an EX model of a Honda or a pontiac g6 for $25k less. Plastic dash, fake leather... the only real nice part is the gauge cluster, shift knob (depending) and steering wheel unless you get in the $75k range for german cars.

I'm not bashing on german cars (I own a 325i), but I am a very upset customer in the fact that for my money I feel like I got ripped off on the interio

Ah! Quite a fool!

I will start off by saying... the only truly unattractive and inexpensive-feeling BMW interior is the inside of the current 5 Series. It looks less-expensive than even the 3 Series. Otherwise, their interiors are underrated, IMO. 3 is very nice, updated X3 is a huge improvement, X5 is still great, and 6/7 are gorgeous on the inside. That covers all of them.

Also, a few Lexus interiors are slightly overrated. Why is the soft-touch, black plastic offered in BMWs and Audis inferior to the grey, shiny plastic in Lexus models?

I'm not going to get into this... but, as most magazines have said, Audi's interiors are the envy of the industry. I'd actually sit in one before I said anything.

I think you are tainting all European cars with the same brush. I also believe that while the BMW interiors may look 'cheap', (mainly due to their simplistic designs) the materials themselves are very good. In fact I was surprised when I sat in a new 3-series, after initially being sceptical. It was quite nice.

Audi has outstanding interior quality. Audi's soft-touch interiors easily surpass the often hard, scratchy plastic found in Japanese cars. the panels themselves may fit perfectly, but they don't feel substantial.

Also, Infiniti interiors lose out style-wise. Harmonious no, obtrusive yes.

Lexus interior IS over rated. I was in an IS. The wood grain pieces are making cracking sounds as I assume the glue wasn't put on right. Bad fine finishing. The ride is quite comfortable, cramped, but manageable.
