DCX Enters Talks to Jettison Chrysler
DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche confirmed for the first time Wednesday that the German automaker was in talks with "interested parties" about its ailing Chrysler Group.

"I can confirm that we are talking with some of the potential partners who have shown a clear interest," Zetsche told shareholders at the company's annual meeting here in Berlin.

His comments seemed aimed at reassuring investors, who have been hoping for a rapid sale of Chrysler ever since he disclosed in February that all options were under consideration for the ailing Auburn Hills automaker.

But the share price fell Wednesday after Zetsche declined to disclose details and reiterated that the Stuttgart, Germany-based company was keeping all options open "because we need to have the maximum scope for maneuver."

DaimlerChrysler shares closed down 1.45 percent in Frankfurt. They were trading down 89 cents at $82.06 in early afternoon trading in New York. Many investors were hoping to hear to get a timetable or hear more details.

I hope that Chysler's current uncertainty is stalling [and will ultimately lead to the cancellation of] the horrendous Chysler Imperial concept.

Its very clear now that Chrysler was taken over and not merged with Daimler Benz. The problem with Chrysler is similar to what GM and Ford are experiencing. How come this problem only plagues american car companies?
