Americanized Version of Top Gear May Be A Reality

Sounds good except for the "focusing on American cars, such as Cadillacs." I am not really interested in seeing a Chevy cobalt VS a Ford Mustang comparo.

agreed, keep the show the same, and port it to the states if they need to.

I give Jeremy Clarkson 1 season before he quits because he cant stand testing american cars.

Who cares about American cars? If that's the emphasis of the show then better not waste time and money on it.

They can't simply focus on the SRT models, Viper's, Vettes, Camaro's, Mustang's and etc. They have to test economical cars as well. But this would be a hit in the US though.

The reason why us "yankies" watch the UK show is to see models being beat to death that we will never see here. I will admit though, that the episode of the crew driving through the south with painted southern "blasphemy" was classic. Please producers do not plague us with the Super Minivan Showdown Ultimate Battle!

Sorry to say, but I dont think its a good idea, when shows are brought over from america to uk they dont change anything about them, just simply air them. If top gear start making an 'American' edition as well, it will spoil what top gear is, its a british motoring show, which looks at all the top cars from across the world. They love it even in russia!!! If the identity of the show is altered it will spoil it. Plus I cant see why our american friends dont just watch it as it is, they might learn something about real cars.

we dont watch it because we cant, its not on tv here, if it was i would tivo every show. I agree they should just air the same one they do in europe, and no ruin it by making a "new Show". i wish we got 5th gear also.

Just look at Ford. "American" Ford sucks, while "European" Ford rules. We want original Top Gear!

Not surprising at all, infact, most American TV shows are a direct copy of british Television..Funny how Americans pride themselves having good TV, yet all they do is copy/paste..Are Americans good at anything really?

Have you ever watched American television? Hollywood is the center of the film/TV universe. Besides American Idol, I cant think of any top rated shows we have inspired by the brits.

There were a dozen or so auto TV shows a few years ago. MotorWeek still lumbers on in Maryland, but other shows that had spots on Speed Network and Spike have simply fallen off. Top Gear seems to be a highly respected show with respected hosts that tell their honest opinions.

The US auto industry should embrace this type of show because it raises overall awares of current and future vehicle offerings.
