Jaguar Raises Standard for Luxury Cars With Update of Flagship Sedan

IRVINE, Calif. April 4, 2007 – Renowned for its lavish interior and signature styling, the company’s flagship sedan, the Jaguar XJ, gets an even more confident look for the 2008 model year with visual changes, technological advances such as HD Radio technology, and additional features across the range.

Exterior styling for the new XJ has been given a more contemporary, assertive look whilst maintaining its luxury and elegant stance. An all-new front-end design combined with side power vents, lower body sills and subtle rear aero spoiler give the new XJ a more modern, dynamic appearance. New 19 inch and 20 inch wheels for both standard and long wheelbase models reinforce the confident attitude.

While the XJ’s exterior becomes more athletic, the cabin is more luxurious than ever with a new seat design that provides additional comfort and support while increasing usable rear leg room. An advanced active cooling system is available as an enhancement to the standard three-stage heated front seats. The new three-stage cooling feature is standard on Vanden Plas, XJR and Super V8 models.

The interior enhancements do not end there as a number of technological features have also been improved.
The new XJ is oneof the first cars in North America to offer a factory-installed multicast HD Radio receiver, providing listeners with free, digital-quality broadcast radio.

I like the fact that the Jaguar XJ can be ordered with a supercharged (rather than turbocharged) engine; however Jaguar has not been able to produce seats as comfortable as, and with the unique adjustments of, the seats found in the Mercedes S-Class. On the basis of the seat issue alone,the supercharged Jaguar Xj should sell for about two thirds the price of the S-Class. The Jaguar is beautifully styled but seat comfort is paramount in my book.

I think this car looks great. It may not be the most modern of all full size luxo sedans but it sure has the prestige of a British brand. I would prefer this more in black. Otherwise stunning!

We've seen it.

And personally, I hate this new bodykit. It ruins the look. It looks like someone just tacked it on with different scoops and spoilers and badges.

I love Jag, especially their high-end models... but this is the lowest the XJ has gone in awhile.

The article doesn't really specify... is this is a facelift or a body kit or what?

They ruined perhaps the most elegant and classy car in this class.

I wouldn't call it "most elegant"- it looks a bit to ancient for that, at least on the outside. It's up to par in terms of most technology, though. A8 is most elegant, S-Class is most sensual, LS is most dynamic, 7 Series is brassiest. IMO.

And it's only a facelift, BTW.

Agent63,... I somewhat exaggerated earlier but here's my point of view: I have seen some non-luxury marque vehicles that have been modified to look more luxurious (not ricey) that look better.

Meaning that some people have managed to make subtle mods that bring their vehicle a step up unlike this facelifted Jag. They succeeded if their goal was to make it look cheaper.

I believe this is the third time this has been posted. I hated it then, and I hate it now.

Don't get me wrong: I want to like it. But it does make it look cheap.

I get the impression, though, that this modificaton is meant to be a logical step in terms of the forward proportions of the car, in order to bridge between the current model and the all new XJ to come...

I really could care less about this thing though,
I want to see the comlete redesign.
