spy shots: 2010 BMW Z

After a giant successfull year 2006 BMW wants to give the car world back the idea behind the early Z3... a "cheap" Roadster if equipped with the basic engines. Their curret Z4 is now in size weight and price a class over the early Z3. For that they plan to build a Roadster model line below the Z4...the Z2, it is planed for 2010... basic technical dats... weight between 1000-1100kg...only 4 banger from 150-300hp.

Looks like a '90s BMW and a new BMW fused.

The Z4 is more focused in its design. I hope the new one is more progressive than this photoshop.

It looks like a great little car but I don't think its a good idea. This is going to be the same thing as the 1-series which competes with the lower prices VW's and such and looses constantly because it is way too expensive even though it is a superior car in many aspects. This car will go up against the Miata and Opel GT/Solstice/Sky, all of which are great little cars and lose because it will be too expensive and only have a slight edge in the fun-to-drive department as these cars are built specifically for that purpose. BMW needs to stick to making their current cars even better and concentrate less on getting into the low(er) priced car arena. If they want to build this car, it could be a great addition as a new Mini model.
