i love how the lexus fans submit every possible article they can find that says something good about lexus.

I've never heard of this magazine but congrats. Of the LS's the 460 is probably the one to have if one only is considering a Lexus. I have to agree with the Motor Trend review of the LS 600h: overpriced, out of place in that price category and as an auto enthusiast, nothing involving passion or character.

Considering the LS460 was the ONLY full-size luxury sedan launched as a 2007 model, there wasn't a lot of equal-footed competition.

Also, I am sick of every article on Autospies being about Lexus. It would be alright if half of them weren't from fanatics plucking some pointless survey or statistic of the net and posting it here.

REAL auto news only people!

I love it when this happens.

Consider this: what if the German fans posted an article, last year, saying the same thing about the S550? A Lexus fan would bring up what you said, Matthew- too many positive Merc articles, the fans are scrambling for awards, and the S is the only vehicle new to the segment. However, unlike you, they'd be boosted up.

LEXUS FANS, LOOK BEYOND THE BADGE. Look at the comment. It makes sense!

I think it's safe to say that all the Toyota fans had hope when the new LS was unveiled. Compared to the old LS this new one is years ahead in technology and styling, a great stepping stone for the company to bring other technologically sound vehicles into the lineup.

This was an award for "Best engineered." I think a few engineers in Germany are a little upset right now.

WillisWillis - 4/10/2007 4:24:54 AM

Why should they be upset? Because some magazine voted for the LS460? I've never heard of this magazine and either way, there are many factors that can influence the outcome.

Consider this. This is a technology oriented magazine and I would assume that many Lexus owners are interested in this. Many readers of this magazine perhaps own a Lexus or a biased towards Lexus. From a list of cars, they'd pick a Lexus, naturally. Something to think about, eh?

I don't think anyone is upset about this, unless you're a hardcore German fanboy.

I think Toyota's hybrid technology and Mercedes clean burning Blutec Diesel engines are the future of humanity. With these two companies implementing their useful technology it may save earth's atmosphere. However that's if majority of the North American consumers can come to census that the world isn't far from destroying itself. It created it's own death by giving us oil :P. Oil not only kills from an Automotive standpoint but it kills because everyone wants to get their hands on the remaining oil supply.

they're probably getting used to it.

some YEARS AGO, a few german auto engineers were asked in an interview, "Where is the world's most advanced engine research laboratory?"

their honest reply, "In Japan."

now they are seeing it's NOT JUST IN ENGINES where the japanese excel.

The anoying thing is that, the LS comes underpowered here, to 340hp I think. Also, even LS owners dont compare their cars to MB or BMW. They just consider it a good value for money, not a luxury car. Lexus is a BMW competitor only in N.A....

This is the best magazine for naming such award, "best engineered" because it is from the society of automotive engineering (SAE).

Never heard about SAE? ^0^

U r right about LS having only 342BHP and 500NM torque here in ME, Maybe considering Sheikhs driving styles but still we can't say 342BHP underpowered. It’s de-tuned for a reason.

And about the Tiers, come on M53R i would have believe u 5 years ago but now they r on the same level.
And u know Arabs love for the Toyota Land Cruiser and LX470.Considering that LX570 will further boost the Brand’s image and sales.

On other note even some sheikhs are considering Audis now days which were first like non-existent.A8 is really getting popular and also the Q7.

I've always loved the LS, but I never expected to be as much of a hit as it is. It's been getting praises like crazy from big auto reviewers and everything. Good job to Lexus.

i regard AEI much higher than magazines like car and driver. so when the society of automotive engineers says the LS is best engineered, then what the hey, it probably is. oh and lets stop pretending that we want a sports car out of a 4 door limo...didnt see a lot of 7 series at the track this past weekend.

I asked many lexus owners and trust me, many of them buy it because its a cheap and good alternative. Another thing that anoys me is, toyota doesnt take us seriously, they are playing with us. Do you know why they de tuned the 4.6 in the LS? To make it cheaper than the competition. Do you really believe lexus would sell 1 car here if it was lets say just as expensive as BMW or MB? Noway!
