SC50, the Lexus Coupe by TOM'S
You probably know the Lexus SC430, the Luxury Coupe of Toyota's prestigious branch. This car was mentioned several times on NihonCar and we tested it some months ago right here.

The review left with the image of a good but heavy car with performances below our expectations...now most of us don't see the SC430 as a pure sportscar but under the bonnet is a version of a motor that won the Super GT Championship in Japan last year (GT500) with the OPEN INTERFACE TOM'S team: a 4.3 litre V8...

I think the SC430 that races in JSGT (GT500)is actually a really sexy race car, and it looks like it might do quite well again this year... The silver ZENT one looks really cool.

.. but the kit from toms adds nothing to the blobby disproportionate look of the road car.

This actually doesn't look to bad. Way better than the stock unit.

How come those rims on the silver one remind me of Brabus rims?

or they could just employ the racers powertrain and suspension and make the SC a decent/competitive car for the market...
remember when racers were actually used to engineer?

SuperGT is a very good platform of racing. Any type of silouette racing such as SuperGT, DTM, V8 Supercars, Speed World Challenge, and the BTCC is very good watching.

Look at it next to an SL550. When the SL500 came out around the same time as the SC430, Lexus execs were probably up late at night, thinking, "That's what our car COULD HAVE BEEN..."

No matter what is done on this car, to me it's not worth it. This car desperatelly needs a complete redesign.

The interior is closer to stud than the dud exterior ever well. It has no curb appeal in my eyes. That's one Lexus that has yet to have the L-Finesse and I can't wait to see it revamped

The SC has had the same overall body style from 1992 to 2000. It just got "freshened" in 1995 and in 1997 and the interior in 1998 and 1999. I just wish with the next SC they would do like they did with with the original SC and offer a v6 (SC 300) and V8 (SC 400) version. I guess it would be the SC 350 and the SC 460.
