New Buick Park Avenue in China based on the Holden Caprice - Should it come to the US?

At the Seoul Motor Show, GM introduced the Daewoo LX4 or in other words, a rebadged 2008 Holden Statesman / Caprice. Now its turn for the Chinese to get a taste of Aussie RWD luxury and note it’s not the first time as the previous generation Statesman / Caprice was also offered as the Buick Royaum. And no, there’s still no word for an American version but why should there be since the Chinese bought more Buick's than the Americans last year…
Although there’s no V8 power under the hood, Chinese buyers will get the option of two V6 engines, the 250Hp 3.6-liter which is also offered the Aussie models and a 201Hp strong 2.8-liter. In comparison with its Australian and Korean counterparts the Park Avenue looses the front wing air-vents while it gets a new front grille outside and redesigned center console, larger air-vents and different seats inside.

Like Bob Lutz said - all RWD cars for GM (except Camaro and the RWD Impala) are on hold until the feds mpg regs are sorted out.
Unfortunate for GM; the feds stabbing GM in the back and the Asian mfgs are moving further ahead.

I can understand why the Chinese like this car. There is no doubt these cars are comfortable and luxurious. In Taiwan I have an S600 with a chauffeur(only $1500 Canadian/month) and my grand parents have a Cadillac($1000 Canadian/month) very cheap!. For the Chinese any car American is most likely a better build than the Chinese companies so that's another reason of USDM vehicles being such a huge success.

In China as long as you own a car never mind the chauffeur you are labelled wealthy. With that many envy and maybe try to rob you in MOB form. It's rough in some parts.

I really like this car, though, and would love to see it on the roads.

If GM begins importing their cars from Chinese plants, all their other brands might follow and soon, most GM cars will be built in China. UAW will be jobless and this cant be good politically.

Tiger Woods probably has all the models in the Buick lineup for his driving pleasure. I wonder if they gave him GM sports cars like a GTO or a Vette.

It's a nice blend of other GM models... front: the new Pontiac G8 (which is on the same platform), rear: the current Chevrolet Impala (but this looks nicer with LED brake lights), and a blend of both interiors. It's the sportiest looking Buick out there at the moment and would be great over here. I see it taking sales away from the Cadillac DTS if the technology is up there with a lower price than the DTS. I love seeing how all these new cars are getting 'eyebrows'. I wonder who started that LOL.

While not pertaining to this particular vehicle, I saw some absolutely gorgeous mid-sized SUV today. Turns out it was a Buick Enclave. Wow. For a split second there I thought it was a lexus RX, but it has a sleek style all its own. Bravo GM.

people get a lot of flak on here for driving a lexus. well i guess nowadays its been pretty chill. but driving a buick is suicide to your image on the road...
