Bentley Brooklands: First shipment sells out

If you were thinking of getting your hands on a $350,000 Bentley Brooklands this year, you’re a bit out of luck. With a total of 140 orders taken for 2008, Bentley has sold out its first shipment of the Brooklands. Now the people looking to ride in the beautiful luxury coupe will have to wait two years, but they should act quick because Bentley will only be making 550 units of the Brooklands (that means only 410 are left).

The new Bentley Brooklands gets its power from a 6.75 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 530 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. As with the latest Arnage, the V8 engine is mated to a six-speed transmission.

Are you kidding? How could you possibly compare a Lexus to a Bentley. I was at the auto show last night and saw it. It looked too big for my taste but it is still a regall vehicle. IF I had the money I think I would get the Continental GT. Still this car exudes opulence!! In terms of exclusivity - the most exclusive I saw at the show was Spyker (www.spykerworld.com) - man those are some machinces as well.

As of now, THERE IS NO LS COUPE. As of now, THE NONEXISTENT LS COUPE IS NOT A BENTLEY COMPETITOR. As of now, not even the CL is really a Bentley competitor! I guess CL600 is, but 550 isn't, quite...

Good! Now Bentley has plenty of time to work out any unforeseen bugs for the benefit of the next wave of buyers. Although I would not buy such an expensive car unless I had an extreme windfall, I consider it to be a true work of art -- perhaps more of a work of art than a machine. In the meantime, I copied much of the Bentley Brooklands high-resolution Internet gallery onto a CD-R and took it down to Wal-Mart where I had the pictures developed in one hour for 19 cents each. It's a lot cheaper to look at pictures of expensive cars than to buy them and pictures don't get door dings in parking lots. BTW, I thought Bentley was going to call it the Havana Coupe -- what happened to that idea?

No doubt the Design represents luxury,Exclusivness,Majestyness...etc but it's quite dated now.

Bentley should focus on it and bring the All-New designed Arnage soon.

BTW love the Continental GT and GTC.

This car scream's luxury I agree with JUGNU and I also agree that it looks dated. First glance it doesn't have that appeal factor I was looking for. With the GTC I got it but not with this higher end Bentley. This caters to very niche market. "Old money" will love this car. "New money" will love the GT and GTC. I'm on the train with new money so the GT and GTC will be my choice. Not going to deny it this car is very luxurious and stunning so definitely not going to take anything away from it. I had a chance to take a good look at it at an auto show last week and the detail and refinement in the build is of the highest quality materials.

Good car, luxurious car, but not the most up to date.

Rating: 8 for design and 10 for luxury.

Agent63, I completely agree.

Dated or not, this car is COMPLETE "old money." Bentley is the only place for those types of buyers to go with their Arnage, Azure and Brooklands- the Phantom is very "new money," what with rappers and celebs being seen in them; the GT, GTC and Flying Spur are "new money," and the Maybach... is for "no taste."

I guess they have the three-car new money lineup and the three-car old money lineup. It works. Go Bentley!
