Oh, let me elaborate, nicad...

1. Looks? Do you expect everyone to agree with you? Although the ES is a good-looking sedan, its design does not betray its Camry roots, and cars such as the 5 Series, E-Class, A6 and Lexus's own GS all look significantly more expensive.

2. Power doesn't matter; speed/handling/acceleration do. And, as of now, the ES doesn't have more power. Unless you're comparing the 528i to the ES350, both the 535i and 550i could crush the ES in a straight line.

3. Quicker? As far as I know, Lexus somehow got the 270hp engine to be slower than it should be, and I would be surprised if the ES350 got from 0-60mph in under seven seconds. On the other hand, the less-powerful BMW 530i (and of course the 535i and 550i) gets anywhere from six flat to 6.5.

4. Technology? Not really. The ES doesn't have any standout features, like the LS460; it just has the usual panaroma sunroof, push-button start, navi, backup camera... all the clichés that are employed by everyone else. The 5 appears to be more technologically advanced- read 001's article on its new cruise control system to prove the point. Luxury? I disapprove of the 5's interior, but the ES's interior isn't particularly interesting or appealing, either.

5. RELIABILITY!!! THAT'S ALL WE HEAR!!! ALL DAY!!! WE DON'T CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasted mine, BMW. I guess it probably wasn't worth it... but I saved us, at least.
