Saab 9-4X!
Saab seems to be building a small crossover 9-4X, based on the 9-3, with a 2.8L V6 engine, producing around 290 HP; and of course aimed directly at BMW X3, Volvo XC60,...

Well, this will [should] be based off of the Equinox from GM so look for some very close similarities.

It will be interesting to see which is the better GM offering in this segment, the 2008 Saturn VUE or the Saab X3. Given all other things being roughly equal, it just may boil down to seat comfort and the usefulness and design of the instrument panel. Saab has a history of excellence in both areas but sometimes does stupid things like offering 3-spoke wheels instead of nice 5-spoke wheels that I would expect on a sporty car. As a car customer, I do not appreciate GM's acquisition of Saab and Ford's acquisition of Volvo. I would have preferred that Saab and Volvo merge into a Swedish powerhouse in the auto industry and give certain other European car companies some real competition.

I notice that you mention seat comfort in many of your posts. Is that one of your primary reasons to buy a car? It's nice to have comfortable seats, but it's not a car's defining aspect...

It's funny to see how Ford's money has helped Volvo penetrate more of the market and develop new vehicles. GM has basically killed Saab. Saab is no longer the Saab that we use to love for their innovativness, safety and performance. Saab is essentially a Chevy, Saturn, and Pontiac mix. Before the aquisitions, Volvo approached Saab for a partnership but they were too different in their visions. Go figure.

I don't know why but it reminds me of an MDX from first glance. I give them credit though at least this Saab isn't the worst design in the world.
