Modified cars may come to an end in Germany

Do any of us live in Germany with turbocharged cars? If so, I'm sorry for your loss, but this doesn't affect most of us.

maybe someday this law will be imposed upon you, and then i'll get the satisfaction of saying; don't care, not my business...

The way these things work is that once this law is passed in Germany (Turbo or N/A) Insurance companies around the world will then start Lobbying their respective governments using Enviromental and Safety concerns to get the same law passed.

So before you can say "WTF just happened" you will be hit with the same law and then your "Its of no Concern to us" Attitude will dramatically shift.

While a couple of these were initiated because of safety concerns the vast majority of it is used purely for Profit / Revenue Generation by the respective Governments.

Well, thanks for the info, but I'm not a tuner, anyhow. I'd rather spend the money that could be spent on tuning, on buying a stock car that is already fast... and better-integrated. There are too many stupid risks, such as warranty voiding, that I just don't want to take for no reason. My brother disagrees... he has a 2001 B5 S4 with 330+hp from a Stage III chip on his 2.7T. I forgot which company, though.

Most of the big tuners are already TÜV certified. I am not sure it would stop the biggest companies, but many of the smaller houses may have to pool resources.

Not to worry! German Audi fans can soon order a macho-looking Q7 with a direct-injected turbocharged 500 hp V12 diesel. This thing is a rocket and the engine is super smooth because it is in the proper 60-degree configuration. There is always a way to get around stupid regulations laid down by lazy civil servants who have nothing better to do than to make life miserable for the rest of the population. I hope Audi brings this magnificent diesel beast to North America real soon.

This isn't really a big problem.

If they can't tell you have a chip, then how can this rule be enforced? Even the ones that void your warrantee many times do not even get noticed at the dealership.

Agent63, this is primarily aimed at third-party companies providing tuning options. As for products tuned by factories, those will be okay. All engines from the factory must meet the different emissions standards, including something from AMG.

I THINK THIS WILL MAKE GERMAN TUNERS EVEN BETTER THEY WILL MAKE SURE THAT THE CHIPS AND AFTERMARKET PARTS INTEGRATE BETTER WITH THE FACTORY SETTING AND HELL THIS MIGHT EVEN SAVE SOME PEOPLE FROM BLOWING THEIR ENGINES
