The Dodge Challenger is Coming Soon!

Check out these spy shots of the Challenger. It is looking AWESOME.

With production of the 2009 Dodge Challenger slated for next spring, it was only a matter of time before prototypes started showing up. What we have here isn't quite a full-blown prototype just yet, but our newest spy photos show what appears to be the front clip of a Challenger grafted onto the body of a Charger R/T. This is a common practice when engineers want to test airflow to the engine of a car that has a radically different grille design compared to existing models. Despite the heavy camouflage, it's clear the Challenger's front end will look almost identical to the prototype which should come as no surprise given that Dodge officials have already promised minimal styling changes for the production Challenger. With an official unveiling scheduled for the 2008 Chicago Auto Show, we expect this will be the first of many Challenger spy photos to come.

I saw the Challenger at the auto show. I must say Dodge has really brought back the classic styling. It actually looks like the older muscle cars but obviously more modern. However, I would choose the new Camaro over this.

If this is the challenger of old then they can keep it. Reliving historic icons and milking the cow twice is only going to get the big 3 so far.

Capture my attention, and that of my market segment and the penetration might just lead to some profits.

Yes but ALL WILL AGREE that the mini cooper and the Porsches were Resounding Successes, unlike the Mustang Shelbys and the rest of the Garbage from US Automakers.

What I said could be taken to mean that I think that classic muscle was not good, which I don't agree with. I just see the trend in automakers to relive the past as a sure sign of desperation. They are loosing out on the opportunity to grab me as a future customer.

I praise this same outlook(being an enthusiast myself). That being said being an enthusiast is only a portion of the auto world. A world where people sometimes simply buy because they saw a car in a movie, or whatever.

Well lets juts hope this thing gets executed half as well as the concept...the pic could have the facia covered because it is the SRT-8 version, it does have the SRT wheels. I have heard that consumers should expect a larger displacement HEMI for the SRT model, most likely a 6.4L or larger...

It would be cool if they actually built a "real" Hemi engine instead of just using the name. Seems only the Europeans build engines with hemispherical heads nowadays.........
