Chevrolet Corvette Z07

Chevrolet Corvette Z07
Just before it's replaced by the all-new C7, the C6 will get one last shot at automotive immortality: around 700 horsepower and a new name. Word in Detroit is the long-awaited ber-Corvette, codenamed the Blue Devil after Rick Wagoner's alma mater's NCAA team, will now likely be called Z07. Purists at GM have balked at naming it the Corvette SS, after Zora Arkus-Duntov's definitive Chevy sport racer. Corvette Super Sport had been the expected name for the last year or so. It's not coming as soon as you hoped for though...

If you actually read the article, you will read that it says the C7 will be introduced in 2010. The C6 Blue Devil (Z07) will be introduced in 2009. This will put the C6 Corvette at a 6 six year run, the previous C5 went 7 years.

I was confused, too... the two-year-old Corvette, already being replaced?! But no, of course not.

I posted an article from Car and Driver on Friday that had Bob Lutz stating the Blue Devil is a go and will be available in 09. Here's the link:

Btw, why was my post removed??

I dont know. Weren't the "blue devil" myths around in the C5's day-in-age? I think this is just something that Corvette fans keep propagating as a feel good argument.

well all I know is that if everything is true i cant wait for the new vette. each vette is better than the last. the newer ones keep escelating in handling and speed. so instead of chevy tryin to outdo their opponents, they are actually outdoing themselves.

long live the corvette.

Other articles have the C7 coming in 2012. Many believe the C7 will be a mid-engine configuration and will be offered along side the C6.

I am not a fan of that idea believing they should offer (1) Corvette model. It does seem traditional forces are finally losing out to the mid-engine proponents. I dont know how they will make a mid-engine big enough to handle generally taller Americans?
