Lexus LX570 to be sold as Land Cruiser Amazon
The new 2008 Lexus LX570 made its debut at the 2007 New York Auto Show, but when it arrives next year in the UK the car will wear the Toyota bade and will be branded as the Land Cruiser Amazon. The Land Cruiser Amazon will debut in the UK with new front lights and Toyota grille but will use the same new platform as the LX570.

It will have a 5.7 liter V8 engine that produces 381 horsepower and will cost around £48,000.

It's not shocking. The LX has always been a rebadged Toyota Land Cruiser anyways. It needs no saying that it does its job very well to those it caters to.

48000 pounds

ever wonder why they don't sell any?
that is a shade under a GL, which has a Mercedes badge, not a Toyota one.
it's nearly 95000 dollars btw.

A complete lack of engine choices doesn't help either - I can't think of any European who could want a 5.7 litre petrol Toyota. Why no diesel or a lower priced model?
They do it with our LC (which is similar to the GX).

^ Are you serious?

1. Okay
2. LandCruiser is a VERY legendary vehicle.
3. It's not a RR. This will have way better reliability.

Uhduh... we already saw this article...

And, the last LX was badged as the LC Amazon in the UK, so why wouldn't it be this time around?

Actually, it's a beautiful name for an ugly car.

Wow I'm so shocked that Toyota will be identical as the LX570! What else is new?! The previous generation LC and LX are exactly the same except for minor differences with lighting and the grille in the front and the rear lighting.

I know a few people who converted their exterior LC to a Lexus for about 4 grand. There is not point of paying that much more money for a Lexus, when they are the same cars.

It's all about image and bragging rights. In today's society most will go for the luxury name if they can. In this case it shows that the person can afford the difference even though functionality is virtually the same.

What sounds better? Lexus LX? or Toyota Land Cruiser? Obviously the Lexus name makes you look better. If you can afford the L why not? But it is obviously a little more luxurious than the Toyota badge or else no one would buy it.

I do have a friend who almost bought a Land Cruiser for his family, but (in 2006) ended up getting a 2005 LX470 because he liked the badge and the wood trim. His car has single-handedly led me to admiring the LX470, but this LX570, I'm not so sure about.

Umm... duh...
Autoexpress is a bit confused. The next LandCruiser (which we'll probably see @ Tokyo) will be a modified version of the LX (new lights, grille, wheels, fascia trim) and thus be sold as the LandCruiser Amazon in the UK.

Lexus LX470 is badged as Toyota Land Cruiser Cygnus II in many Asian countries(Where Lexus is not officially sold).

Toyota Land Cruiser Amazon is nothing but A Toyota Land Cruiser with spare tire fitted at the bottom not on the rear tailgate.

Got it now.

All new 2008 Lexus LX570 will be known as Toyota land Cruiser Cygnus II (in countries where Lexus is not officially sold )

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the Lexus people.....
