Hyundai Expects a 22% Increase in US Sales in 2007
Automotive News reports today that Hyundai Motor Co. aims to increase its U.S. sales by 22 percent this year.

Hyundai plans to sell 555,000 units in the US in 2007, up from 455,520 vehicles last year, said Jake Jang, a company spokesman.

"We expect the Veracruz and the Santa Fe to help increase overall sales," Jang said by telephone, referring to Hyundai's SUV models. "We also plan to carry out aggressive marketing."

When the large Genesis 4 door comes out, they'll have a lot of bases covered with even large sales increases. I still have problems with their selling a luxury car to buyers that don't like the idea of pulling up at the Hyundai service bay with an Excel in the next stall. They may have to start a luxury line, i.e. Acura, Infiniti, etc.

Instead of sitting back and "expecting," they should try to reach or exceed those expectations!

I definitely think Hyundai are on a roll. They are pushing some really aggressive incentives on some very nice cars. i.e. on the new elantra and the sonata among others.
They have come a long way really quick.

Imagine how quickly the Chinese will dominate the US market. The Japanese are on their way to domination... not long after, Hyundai and Kia will probably take over. By that time the Chinese makes will most likely have a good foothold here; they will improve their products at a rapid pace never before seen in this country.

However, that is, unless we are using hydrogen cars by then... which would be too expensive for the Chinese to produce cheaply.

You know S4cabriofoxone you might be on to something there.
There are bunch of articles (NYT, CNN) that state that Renault/Nissan , Toyota are pushing for a $3000 car. I think it started with an Indian company TATA actually in good shape to bring a car to market for $2500 (i.e.Indian market)in 2008.
Now for a minute, i thought who cares about cheapo cars. But the truth is Toyota Honda beat out US Domestics and most European manufacturers in profits because they can manufacture cheaper( as opposed to cheaper costs). Hyundai learnt its lessons making cars for India and Renault/Nissan in making the Logan for Eastern Europe.

My point being, the company that can make a good new car for $3000 and make a profit is the car company that can make even a bigger profit on a 12K , 30K or 60k car.

I think Hyundai has done very well for themselves. They are slowly sneaking up behind all the other major auto makers. If you guys disagree, at least they didn't re-badge a Chevy like Toyota did with the Cavalier. :). "Toyota Cavalier" from 95'-00'
