Toyota Strengthens Presence In The Tuner Market
As a long-time partner in the automotive specialty-equipment industry, Toyota Motor Sales, Inc. is deepening its support for the market by participating as the Vehicle Manufacturer of the 2007 SEMA Show. This will mark the first time the automaker will serve as the Vehicle Manufacturer of the Show.

"SEMA members and the automotive specialty-equipment industry have benefited immensely from Toyota's long-time support," said Carl Sheffer, SEMA vice president of OEM relations. "By serving as the Vehicle Manufacturer of the 2007 SEMA Show, Toyota is reinforcing and strengthening what it has been doing for years. They are solidifying an already-existing partnership."

In addition to exhibiting at the SEMA Show, Toyota supports SEMA's project vehicle program with SEMA members, provides SEMA members with hands-on early access to vehicles, and takes part in the association's OEM roundtable program. Also, Scion, a marque of Toyota Motor Sales, Inc., allows access to confidential technical data through the SEMA Tech Transfer Program.

Over the course of the last four decades, SEMA has enjoyed an expanded association with the world's automakers. In fact, more OEMs than ever are expected to join Toyota at the 2007 SEMA Show, where they will amaze the industry with dazzling displays and tricked-out vehicles.

"We are looking forward to having Toyota join us in such an integral role at the 2007 SEMA Show," said Sheffer. "It is exciting to have a new Vehicle Manufacturer of the Show."

The 2007 SEMA Show takes place October 30-November 2, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show, open exclusively to automotive professionals, is the premier automotive specialty products trade show in the world. Details about and registration for the 2007 SEMA Show are available at www.semashow.com.

Toyota and Lexus both would like presence in the tuner market, especially with the IS/IS-F. First thing for the younger market is to buy wheels and I've seen numerous exhaust systems installed. Why do that to a so called "LUXURY CAR?" Sure it was an Altezza in the past time but I thought Lexus has seperated it from the re-badged Toyota image?

The SCION is ugly and i've seen many scions tuned exterior wise and they don't look that great.

Listen to yourself. They ARE separating themselves from Toyota which is why there is no longer a Toyota Altezza.

There seems to be a recurring issue on this site as pertaining to negatively portraying the Japanese tuner market. There is really nothing wrong with it. It may not be your personal taste but that does not mean you should just pass it off as crap. I say this as an uncle of a nephew very passionate the Japanese tuner scene. At his high school there are just as many "Sauerkrauted" Audis in the parking lot as there are "Riced" Hondas.
