New Spy phots and video of the next BMW 7-Series

Nothing like the Nürburgring to bring out the best in the 2009 BMW 7 Series. Our spy shooters caught Munich's finest test drivers wringing out the next-generation 7 Series for all it was worth recently at Germany's famed test track.

Saw these. It's looking great- evolution of current design. Unlike many, I find the 7 Series quite attractive, especially the 2006-2008 models. If they make it a bit more elegant, with the trunk slightly less pretentious (although this camoe'd version gives the opposite impression), I'd be all for it.

How do you reach the conclusion that "it's looking great" with all that camo on it?

Yet nobody can say anything negative about a German design under camouflage without being crucified.

Double standard!

Is it really that hard? Like the new Accord, this is one of those types where it's pretty easy to see through... especially when you know the body will be virtually identical to the current version.

Take off your "I hate S4" glasses, and use your imagination.

Sorry, but I had "I hate S4" laser eye surgery.

If this isn't the thickest amount of camouflage ever on a prototype then I don't know what is! There's still body panels bolstered on with bolts for God's sake!

And I just read your response in the Lexus thread and I'll say it again: You seem to thrive off of knowing people have some sort of feelings towards you, whether they be positive or negative. I want to personally take this time out to let you respectfully know that I absolutely have no disdain, animosity, love, affection, or any other forms of emotions towards you, well sometimes, stupidity, but that's a different subject.

And I don't deboost people, for I find it stupid and comical. I've gotten so used to my comments having a -2 beside them it really never bothered me! But if you really want me to start deboosting you, all you have to do is ask and I'll be happy to oblige.

Alright, thank you for the psycho analysis.

This is an Internet forum. As far as I know, your name is actually Harschlelmutt Karjsja and you drive a Lada. We know nothing about each other, although just about everything I've said about my life is true. I don't trust many on the site, nor should you. I don't care how you feel about me, whether it be hatred or admiration.

Hi guys, I'm new on this site.

I have noticed that many people here just like to turn posts into pointless arguments.
I mean like BMW vs Lexus, and people attacking each other, making racist and sexist comments.

I suppose this website is for celebrating cars and not slinging mud.

Let's not get carried away. Back to 7 series.

This should heat up the luxury segment once again with the new redesigned 7 series. However out of all the luxo sedans the benchmark s-class is still my favorite.

But don't think for one second I don't respect the 7 series, A8, or the LS. This segment is packed with so many great features from each brand it's really hard to justify which is the better buy. For me I have always been a MB fan so that's what I know and what I trust. Their services to me have been superb and that's why I continue to buy a Merc.

The 7 series I hope won't be another bad bangle design. It should follow the direction the new 3 series with a more silky smooth lines than the heavily criticized styling of the 7 that came out in 02'. The refresh that was made was much needed and it looks good. I'm hoping the new one takes on that inspiration and carry it on to an even better look.

BMW better be careful trying to load up the 7-Series with so much technology trying to keep up with the competition. We all know they're already not the best at employing truly functional technology. The design cannot possibly be any worse than what the current one already looks like so I'm dying to see what it will look like. Arguably every other manufacturer in the business has proven that they can make BMW's styling work way better than BMW itself.

Wow... what's with the BMW hatred? What did they do to you? Yes, some of their owners suck, but their cars are great.

It's still pretty hard to tell what it the final product will look like, but if you look through the mesh covering the grill, you can see it's pretty much the same thing.

I love the 750i's styling but wasn't a fan of the 745 to any degree. The more they can cut off the trunks height the better.

BTW "Will", if "S4" has an effect on anybody it appears to be you, my advice...take a chill pill before commenting & mabye your emotions won't show.

Well of course you'll stick by your good buddy S4cabriofox. You guys are like two peas in a pod. S4 wears his insecurities on his sleeve, going around posting speculative and totally baseless information in nearly EVERY thread on this site just to be heard.

But what's your purpose of saying all this? it's baseless information as well and it has nothing to do with cars nevermind this website. Just drop it will ya? We're all mature adults aren't we? unless you're still a teenager. I doubt it though.

Oh, yes, that's all I do. Of course, Anthony.

Did it ever occur to you that I'm perhaps the only frequent poster who doesn't argue with everything aynone says? That Will starts the arguments? It seems to me that he is unable to EVER agree with me, no matter how logical or insignificant my comments may be.

I try to talk cars like I'm on a normal site, but that never works. What can I do to please you, oh wise one?

Yeah let's just hope BMW 7 will not have recalls like they had back in 02 or 03. They ruined their rep with the 7 series at that time, it might happen again.

Camo pics do nothing for me. What I want is full early disclosure about the technical details with no cover-up about bad engineering like wrong angle between cylinder banks for V engines, use of brittle silicon-impregnated engine blocks to avoid the cost of iron cylinder liners and the lack of side protection strips to prevent door dings in parking lots. I can only hope that Chris Bangle's design input has been minimized in this instance and that BMW has dumped or severely toned down its ridiculous iDrive.
I wonder if the new 7 will be available with AWD. If so, I ask BMW to include a full technical desciption of its AWD system in the 7-series brochure (written by an engineer and not a marketing clown) so that technically savvy potential buyers can evaluate the merits of BMW vs. Mercedes vs. Audi in this area.

As long as they rid the BMW of the mess that Chris Bangle did to it...I still cannot forgive him for messing up the 5/7 Series.

Based on what can be seen from these spy photos, it is not bad looking.

Dudes I really like this website, it's the only place i can talk about cars with other car-nuts and i'm european!

I agree with the German-Lexus hate but that shows how fanatic these guys are.

I'm a ricer myself but i'm interested in all cars from lada to fisker.

And I'm pretty sure the 7 series will sell like buns because they build good cars
