The new X5 3.0 is slow. 225 lb-ft is weaksauce torque figure.

For someone who doesn't need speed but still have punch that 3.0 would still be luxurious enough for their needs. The interior has no sacrifices. It's only the engine difference between the V8.

These ads will probably help Ford get some much needed credibility, but they'll never steal away BMW customers. They have completely different customers.

That ad is hilarious.

"0.2 seconds"
"Is that a lot?"
"that's plenty"

Sure it Ford, sure it is....

So "Chewy" what do you call the Q7...fast? The 3.0si X5 is pretty much as fast as the Q7's V8, nevermind the V6.

The RX isn't all that quiet... it has a ton of wind noise on the highway.

Ford, you are so copying Hyundai's new ads and once again... your'e late and you suck!

At least Hyundai's commercials are somewhat humorous.
Sonata vs. 5
Santa fe vs.
Azera vs. LS

verdict: Hyundai has the 'Edge'

I wonder since Hyundai has made it clear that they are trying to compete with the big boys, including Lexus ("oh no he didn't say the 'L' word"), will Ford try to catch up with Hyundai?

good question.

Santa fe vs. LR3?

Id still take the X5. No matter how it looks or performs. And I think the Mazda CX9 (Edge shares the platform with the CX9) looks way better than the boxy edge. 0.02 seconds faster? Good for you Ford, the X5 is nearly 5000lbs with the luxury fitments. Ford wont be taking away BMW customers so easily, Audi, Mercedes, Lexus and Cadillac have a better chance.

edit

i put 0.02 seconds when it should be 0.2 seconds.

It shows just how stupid Ford is.

.2 seconds?

So friggin what...

Make it at least a FULL second faster before you start bragging, and even then, don't get too happy... it's still a boring dull blade with a generic design.

Ford needs to stick with pointing out how there cars are "better" than either Toyota or Honda,(Not saying they are better, just stating what they are claiming) like the Fusion commercials. Cause really, who in their right mind, if in the market for a X5, would ever shop for a Fusion? I guess it does let those that buy a Ford Edge that pull up next to an X5 3.0 Badge Snob to be able to kind of go "hehe". Other than that it's pointless.

No matter how "quick" the Edge is (and I'm guessing Ford is judging by BMW's estimate- in which they always underestimate!), it still has the most mediocre reviews of any new crossover, the interior is still crap and it handles like the oversized Fusion that it is.

With the right gearing, almost any car can be made to go fast from 0 to 60 before it runs out of steam. BMW fans are not impressed with this ad as they know it is aimed at a lower-class market segment ignorant about the trade-offs involved when design focuses on 0-60 times. When I had an 18-speed mountain bike, I used to totally overtake guys with 10-speed racing-style bikes on mixed terrain in a short burst of speed and then hide in the bushes, totally out of breath, laughing at their futile attempt to catch me and claim victory over the long haul.

LOL... Ford couldn't even hide in the ditch with a .2 second lead on BMW (which I doubt due to the modest 0-60 times BMW claims).

"It's not how fast you come, but how we felt while getting there, just don't take too long to finish because I need my rest - aeyjay"

LOLz

They should use that commercial for something like the Lincoln MKX its closer to the x5's class then the edge

Exactly... Ford must have their heads up their a** if they think the Edge and X5 customer are in the same market...

Put your luxury brand head to head with another luxury brand... not your bread and butter.

Damn, I was wishing and hoping that Ford succeeds but now, I could care less... let them f
a
l
l hard.

I think these ad strategies are retarded. Hyundai is doing the same thing, pitting a Santa Fe against a Land Rover and a Sonata against a 5 series. They only show that it might have more horsepower or more legroom, not the whole package. Then they proceed to tell you how much less a Hyundai is. Hogwash. I'll take the BMW.

Yeah... It's like telling a chick " I have a footlong c*/k "

She's like... " Ooooo K, but my b/f has 10", a phD, 10 houses, and a millions in the bank "

Point is... don't brag about something unless you have the whole package... and if you have the whole package, it will speak for itself.
