2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X - Production Version Images Released!

Enough with the prototypes and the pre-production concepts, this is it, the moment all we waste-gate lovers have been waiting for: the production version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X! You don’t even have to read Mitsubishi’s teaser press-release announcing the Japanese market release of the Evo X and its Galant Fortis counterpart to see it. All you need is to just take a look at the pictures. Out go the concept’s high-tech LED turn signals in the sideview mirrors, the futuristic light-inserts and the 20-inch alloys, in come stock headlights, tail-lamps, mirrors and 18-inch rims in 245/40 R18 tires.

And that’s about all the changes you’ll find in comparison with the Detroit Concept in concern of the EVO’s exterior appearance. Even though we lusted the first-gen concept’s more muscular looks, seeing the latest version of the Subaru Impreza WRX, puts our feet back on the ground and draws a huge smile on our face. We’re absolutely fine with it. Mitsubishi hasn’t released any interior images or specs but we’re confident that they won’t disappoint us when thy fully release the EVO (it will be called Lancer Evolution in other markets) this fall at the Frankfurt Show in September.

Oh, enough with trying to bash high-performance german automobiles! It's true, this will be an awesome car, but you cant compare it to something that will cost a lot more, they're in different leagues.

Actually not. The current Evo in mild tune FQ360 will outpeform a 911 Carrera S. BMW M3 /M5 are not even in the same ball park.

As much as I liked the original prototype EVO X stuff I am starting to like it less now. The waist proportions, oddly small looking wheels, and plain jane midsecstion are kinda odd.

On the contrary I feel the latest Subaru is not the wildest, most attractive, but its the most solid in proportions, and angles.

I really want to like the new EVO because I praised it so early on as the next great car.

Very aggressive looking up front, but the back is where I think it loses much of its look. It just doesnt seem to fit the EVO's profile. Any one got pics of the interior? I know its a huge improvement from the previous EVO, so this production version has to show it.

This does not make the M3 look weak at all. Nor does the M3 make this look weak either. And even though we think we cant compare these two cars, someone or some auto magazine will, just to see which is more worth the money.

I know that this red color is pretty drab, but imagine this car in silver or black, man oh man, what mitsubishi has produced is a total basher, what an awesome car, looks powerful and a machine not some weakling like the new subaru wrx that tries to be cute. This is a redblooded car that can put your pants on fire. Way to go mitsubishi this is what we wanted, not some cute pucker like subaru wrx.

Why does it have different tires on either side? I recognize the Yokohamas Advan Neovas, not sure about the other ones.

It would be interesting if someone could do one of those side by side comparisons of the final production version with the final prototypes that were on display and being tested so that we can get an idea of how different they are...

I notice a lot of the LED clusters are gone, most evidently on the headlamps, lower fascia and the side-rearview mirrors are clearly different; the wheel too have gotten signigicantly smaller...

One thing that I noticed is that the concept car was more rakish. It had more of coupe feel to it. They pulled back, and I don't know why.

They are both bad ass, but marketed towards different market segment. This car competes with the Subaru WRX. The M3 competes agains the RS4 and C63. The Porsche 911 competes against AM V8.

deviating away from the homologation special evoIX but looks good anyway as a world car evo X. I hope it can back it up with numbers as we know the evo IX MR is compared with the RS4(new) and Carrera 4S(non-turbo) and it beat it to a pulp! M3 and M5 not even in same league(now they are talking about luxury appointments not handling and performance comparing it to the evo IX)

Looks wise,Evo definitely lived up to the hype and truly fulfilled the Expectations. Just Brilliant.

BTW Love it so far (As i can only comment on it's looks now) but hopefully it's performance will match it's striking and aggressive looks.
