Lexus LS 600h L: Another Review

The article is from Motor Trend and has pretty much the same performance numbers as reported on Car and Driver. So there you have it, two different magazines, same encouraging stats. Anyone said something about lousy performance and fuel economy?

What you German got to say about this? oh wait let say it for you, it bias? What bunch of freaking loser...when a Auto magazines saying something good about Lexus it bias. But when it do the same to German brand it fair? gave me a freakin break.

The matter of fact is that you this car is superb....it a beauty and present is just stunning. Can you say the say thing about the old fart BMW 7 Series, boring Audi A8 and the MB S-class? By the way the MB S-class is the worse one of them all. The rear light design on the MB S-class look like it has stripe of tape on it.

Gave a break...Lexus is going to take over this segment as well. Those who say other wise will be ignore.....

it would take 10 years for the warranty to go out. And even then, it might last longer, nobody knows yet, thats just a warranty.

second, its a lexus, it will never stop working

third, people who buy this car will get rid of it within 5 years and buy the next version. who cares about the lives of the batteries.

Obviously a Lexus won't stop working because you don't even own one to know it would fail on you or not. haha.

oh, it has ended up being a wonderful day in the automotive world. My day started at 4:30am (PST) this morning with that damn "Auto Motor und Sport" article slamming this miraculous automotive achievement. But it has ended at 11pm with one more praising article. I can go to bed in peace. (I'm sure when I wake up there will be 100 posts claiming bias, and I will have been de-boosted about 12 times, but until then all is well.)

So Lexus feels they're being "creative" by not sticking a V-12 in the engine bay? Well that's all great and everything but most people looking at cars in this price range aren't paying much attention to the gas mileage.

I own a gas guzzling 650i that I leased out without paying any attention what so ever to the mpg's because I knew I wasn't leasing an economy car for Christ sake, I was leasing out a V-8 monster GT.

If I bought one of the V-12 sleds I'd feel & be in a class of my own...the V-12 luxury class which translates to EXCLUSIVITY.

The keypoint here is that everyone is trying to be different.

Instead of being another face in the 12-cyl crowd, Lexus is trying to be different, yet comparable.

There are a lot of great cars in this class. The LS600hL raises the bar. We should all be happy about that.

Yes, they are all great. But, the only one that truly "raises the bar," as you put it, is the S600. It is the most powerful, the most expensive, the most exclusive, the most luxurious and while it may not get the best mileage, that is not what S600 owners are looking for. They're pompous plutocrats who couldn't care less about everybody else.

W12, 760Li and 600hL all pale in comparison.

If it was such a bad vehicle, why would there be a huge waiting list for it?!

Maybe MB, BMW gave some money to those mags.....

The Jetta is also smaller and slower. Small, slow cars get good mileage, whether they are gasoline or diesel.

Great job on the LSh. I didn't expect it to have such poor numbers in later tests; of course, that was a good prediction. I would still buy a loaded S8 over it, but that's just me- it's sport/luxury vs. prestige-luxury. I can honestly understand why someone would buy an LS600hL now; it is a relative bargain, especially compared to the S600, and offers okay mileage as opposed to flat-out pathetic mileage in a full-size luxury car. What you get from the German sedans is more power, more speed and exclusive features; to most, though, 440hp might "just" be enough.
