Volkswagen kills Tourer SportVan production plan

Volkswagen kills Tourer SportVan production plan
Remember the Mercedes-Benz R-Class looking Volkswagen Tourer SportVan? Well new Volkswagen boss Martin Winterkorn, has killed the plans of putting the car into production due zero chances of success in the market. “The decision is a reflex on the flop Mercedes R-class”, said a Volkswagen insider.

Plans for the Volkswagen Tourer SportVan started under Wolfgang’s time when the company was looking to expand its lineup. The Tourer was supposed to be a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz R-Class.

According to this AutoBild photo-rendering, we think the Volkswagen Tourer would have kicked some serious Mercedes R-Class butt. Well let’s hope that one day Volkswagen pulls it of the shelves and brings it to the market.

Thanks VW... for not competing in a class that never should have went into session.

I wish VW would reconsider. I visualize an R from VW at 2/3 the price. What really annoys me is that VW will not be building the real neat Microbus they designed a few years ago.

That would've been an excellent car, w/ a hybrid.

Maybe the MB R Class doesn't sell where you live, but here in Irvine, Ca they sell very well and VW will be smart to get this car on the road ASAP.

The R Class has been a disaster for Mercedes. This is the smartest decision VW has made in 10 years

I have to agree with david here... the R is retarded.

I think the best thing VW has done lately is making the current GTI. It's a masterpiece.

Now that Volkswagen seems to be understanding that Audi is their luxury car division, perhaps Volkswagen can set about the task of building cars that don't fall apart and cost ridiculous sums to repair. Just another scorned former VW owner here...

Why would they do that? I'm looking at the pics right now, and thats the BEST looking VW I've ever seen. :(

You really think it would come out looking like that? This is basically an artist's impression of what a concept version might look like!

Good move! Maybe they won't try to be a pseudo-luxury brand any more... I love Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Porsche, but VW annoys me a lot of the time...

This puzzles me..
The Renault Espace has been around for about 20 years and is a vehicle like the R Class, isn't it??
The Renault has been consistantly one of the best selling vehicle in his class.
