Toyota Tundra Aces More Stringent Crash Tests

Last month, we were a bit stunned when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the all-new Toyota Tundra a four-star crash test rating, instead of the highest 5-star rating. The testing procedures by the NHTSA are almost always more forgiving than the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which uses more extreme crash tests in their evaluations.

There is nothing to determine which crash test is more stringent. NHTSA and IIHS crash tests are completely different.

Many vehicles got 4stars in NHTSA tests got zero (poor) in IIHS offset front crash tests.

I totally agree. I was at a light next to a new Tundra yesterday and all I could do was shake my head at the guy. That is the ugliest truk on the road. The new Chevy(and I'm not a GM fan) is the best looking rig on the road. Toyota's lost the Full size war........for now.

I would go with the NHTSA, I am begining to like the toyota regardless of the shortcomings! I still think toy should go back to the drawing board to improve safety and more off road ability, how about a solid axle or vastly improving wheel travel X3! I used to like the Chev more until I hear that there airbags are deploying from off road driving or merely bumping a curb while negotiating a turn and that will cost you $5,000. plus! Chev's response is that they would like to error on the side of caution! What the @#@@ Chev should recall there trucks! And at least ford didn't release the flame throwing trucks! Chev would have said it is cleaning the air to improve the enviroment!
