Audi Releases A Yaris Killer A4 for Europe
Audi is extending its highest-volume model series, the Audi A4, adding two new, particularly efficient models. With an output of 115 bhp, the A4 1.9 TDI e, available as a saloon and as an Avant, offers powerful propulsion and high efficiency. The A4 1.9 TDI e accelerates to 100 km/h in just 11.2 seconds and on up to a maximum speed of 201 km/h, which makes its fuel consumption data all the most astonishing. Indeed, the A4 1.9 TDI e saloon with a manual 6-speed gearbox requires just 5.2 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres (over 44 MPG)and emits merely 137 g CO2 / km.

State-of-the-art TDI engine technology and an array of features enable the driver to make even more efficient use of fuel. The best example is the gearshift display. Located in the instrument cluster in the driver's central line of vision, it indicates the best time to move up or down to the next gear, depending on the given situation. In terms of consumption in particular, it is important that the driver takes full advantage of the vehicle's potential. The new gearshift display provides valuable information to ensure a fuel-saving driving style.

The A4 furthermore has markedly high transmission ratios for gears 3 to 6, which contribute to lower fuel consumption. The engine electronics too are engineered for economy. With various weight-reduction measures, including the aluminium bonnet and low-rolling-resistance tyres in size 205/55 R16, in addition to aerodynamic features – such as the saloon's integrated S line rear spoiler – the A4 1.9 TDI e is highly compatible with everyday use and offers particularly economical mobility.

Following the success of the A3 1.9 TDI e, Audi is now applying this integral efficiency concept in a second high-volume model series. The basic price of the A4 1.9 TDI e is € 28.300. The A4 2.0 TFSI e is also available.

I drive a neon green Toyota/Lexus Echo welded to a Yaris; with 16in rims, bright neon lights underneath, Jackie Chan pictures on the door, and a 15.2 Ft racing wing. No Audi will ever compare to it, german jumk!. I drive it at 199mph and it still gets 85mpg.

I have a lime green LC which gets 100 mpg with its hybrid flat 2 ethanol fuelled solar powered regenerative braked running on water and air mixed with toothpaste engine which has 600 hp and does 200 mph and beats an Audi R8 round the Nurburgring AND seats 20 people with enough space for their luggage and can cross the Antarctic in 2 days.
Nothing beats the hybrid-Colgate-drive in my car, it has negative CO2 emissions, it reverses climate change, like all amazing super-dooper Lexus do unlike that rebadged Trabant crap from the land of Sauerkraut and schnitzel, which kill babies and elderly people.

Oh yeah, well God personally made my Toyota/Lexus Echo/Yaris for me ... and sent it down to me on a gold cloud, that rains gum drops. He has blessed Toylexus and they will rule the earth with their triplet clones of Hitler, Jet Lee and Chuck Norris. WELL, I drive the new BMW superlexusbeaterfartE905329IU2 that has a 9.9L inline 4 that not only gets 6,028mpg with a 1459 gallon tank but also goes 492mph with super-air-Lexus-plant power but actually emits 10,000lbs of C02/inch. for those stupid audivw FWD inferior engineering crap people to choke on!!!!!!! hahahahah amainBimmer forever!!!!

Yaris? A4??

Audi does not have a model that fights in the same segment as the Yaris. And definitely not the A4.
The Yaris is up against Clio, 207 and Polo.
The A4 is taking on C-klass, 3-Series and Passat.

Actually Rupert was right. Diesel engines intrinsically burn dirtier than gas/petrol engines due to the fact they are burning a less flammable fuel, diesel, which is harder to combust, resulting in a lot of left over particulate matter.

Particulate matter from diesel engine exhaust is responsible for allergic and respitory illnesses such as asthma, as well as other potentially more serious diseases.

It's true that modern diesel engines are a lot cleaner than they were in the 70's through advances such as direct injection but they still rely on heavy duty exhaust filtration to remove much of the particulate matter. It's only now with the introduction of technology such as Bluetec that diesels are even coming close to equivalent gas/petrol engine particulate emmissions.

I would definitly have the A4 over the Yaris IF the A4 costs the same price as a Yaris, this A4 costs 3 times the Yaris.
Now the Japanese can put even a smaller 4 cylinder engine in the Camery, Accort, etc... and still beat the A4. But I don't think that can happen.

Ok I'm tired and my sentence makes no sence. lol

Emissions are more than particulates. Diesels generally emit fewer levels of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxides and volitile organic compounds as comparable, gas engines. And all diesels can run on any blend of biodiesel which reduces all harmful substances from the tailpipe, save NOx.

With biodiesel, there is no loss in fuel economy like is seen with E-85--fueled vehicles losing 25% fuel economy (www.fueleconomy.gov).

None of this will matter by the end of 2008 when ten brands will come to America, sporting a superior diesel engine that is as clean as gas engines in every category; cleaner in some categories; and will all be able to run on biodiesel blends with no sacrifices.

New EPA regulations require that diesels become as clean as gas cars in their most problematic areas (NOx and PM); s, if we get any diesels after 2008, they will be cleaner than gas cars, and they will all be alternative-fuel vehicles as an extra bonus!

Impressive mielage and looks great! I would rather own the Audi and fix it frequently than own the lousy unsafe yaris! At that price for the audi you could get a civic that is faster, safer and handles better and almost as good on gas for way less!
