Lotus engineers are working on a new hybrid powertrain which will use a three-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor. Working with Siemens VDO, Lotus hopes to develop an engine that mainstream car makers can use to produce low-emissions vehicles. Come on Lotus, lets see a Exige hybrid. Show the Tesla Roadster what you’re made of!

They should just produce the E85 motor that they already have a prototype of in the Exige 265E. Lotus doesn't make the motors for it's own cars as it is so why are they even thinking about making them for other companies? pretty brainless... I love my Exige (but would love the 265E)!

Why ?

Simply beacuse Hybrid is the way to to go.It's the future.
Sports Car or Luxury Car.Mass produced or Limited Edition.

Hybrids will remain for a long time.
Maybe in future mated with Diesel or Hydrogen..etc
