This has a Dodge Viper's V10 engine powering it. Yeah, it's a Porsche all right.

That's 'cause their own engines were for too unreliable.

I don't see it being a Porsche Yacht. Just because it's a Porsche design doesn't mean they have to use their own engines. It just depends which company is contracted to do it.

Lexus,
And as for being unreliable Porsche engines where the heck did you get that from? Wait let me guess you're comparing a Porsche engine to a Toyota engine ? please... And you think a Viper engine is more reliable than Porsche? use your brain Einstein.

He has a point. I'd take a Porsche engine over a Dodge engine anyday.

I guess Porche is maximizing the use of its brand. A Porche-branded yacht will never be a custom-built Choy Lee but it will sell to the same type of customer who buys a Porsche-branded watch or a watch bearing the name of an upscale department store.

True, this is a Porsche Design Yacht. Just like the Porsche Design watch, is actually an IWC watch. They will sell to the people who are not true connosieurs.

I much rather get the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph or the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

This is like the Harley-Davidson V-Rod. Porsche designed it, still the engine was developed by Harley Davidson.

The Viper engine is because Porsche doesn't have some huge engine that's suitable for a boat! They have great engineering, and get 480hp out of 3.8L engines, while Dodge needs 8.0L to get 500hp. The Viper's engine is so huge that it's suitable for a yacht. THAT'S why.

Then shouldn't they develop one?

They don't need to make a huge engine to make their cars go fast. Haven't you noticed that? rear mounted engines with great power to weight ratio + great weight distribution throughout their whole car.

That's also true. And Porsche engines also have a lot of torque. I don't know how boats work so maybe torque isn't something you need to have to sail.
