Cars.com Picks Top Cars Priced Above $100,000

While most car buyers might scoff at the notion of spending more than $100,000 on a new car, exotic cars are a rapidly growing segment. According to Cars.com the trend doesn't look to be ending anytime soon; new $100,000-plus entries from Porsche and Aston Martin are on the way, and BMW and Mercedes-Benz are expected to produce new, rarified models.

"With continued growth in the exotic cars category, Cars.com decided to compile a list of the top cars for buyers in the luxury market," said Cars.com editor David Thomas. "The selection process for these cars was fairly straightforward. Cars on the list all have a sticker price between $100,000 and $200,000 and go above and beyond pedestrian luxury cars in terms of style, performance and attitude."

1. Bentley Continental Flying Spur - The two-door Bentley Continental GT broke things open for the British coach builder with its most famous owner -- Paris Hilton -- getting them plenty of free publicity. But it's the four-door Flying Spur that is the epitome of how much exotic luxury you can get for your money -- about $170,000 of your money. Even though Bentley is churning out more Continentals than any other model, they're still hand-built and can be custom ordered, down to the wood grain and leather pigmentation

The Mercedes S600 almost didn't make the list?

The car is on the list because it's the best car in the price range.

The Mercedes S has the world's best front seats in terms of comfort and adjustment features. Audi A8 has the best drive technology and has a corrosion resistant aluminum body that Mercedes does not have. Also, the A8 seats are very comfortable in their own right and, on balance, the A8 is a lot more car at a lower price that the S. The Bentley Brooklands coupe is a work of art and unmatched in presence and character but only collectors of fine art can afford it.
I think the best bang for the buck in the $100K plus price range are the Audi A8 and Maserati Quattroporte.

Mercedes has that on ALL their models. It's called NANOLACK.

I'm not talking about Mercedes' unique paint with imbedded nanoparticles to resist scratches. and I'm not talking about electrogalvanized steel. I'm talking about the inherent nature of aluminum to resist corrosion even if some punk scratches your parked car in a way that penetrates the paint down to bare metal. In that case, NANOLACK can't help you. Actually, I never heard that term before and it's not in the Mercedes brochure; is that a Dupont brand name or something?. Also, Mercedes does not use Torsen differentials in their AWD systems and I believe that systems using Torsen are the best. Mercedes does not even fully disclose how their ADW system is designed so customers have no way of deciding which AWD systems offer better reliability and durability.

I like the list, I like it a lot. Go R8! They didn't describe it well, though. They could've said something more than just "modern" style, and the fact that they called the sideblade a "bold stripe" might turn some people off.

For me, the R8 is even better-looking than the Lambo. It's just a very slight edge, but it's there. The R8 seems to make every other sports car/supercar look so old.

The numbers and order doesn't make a difference. Each of the cars on there are beautiful pieces of engineering.
