I've argued with you before because honestly, I don't think you know cars as well as you think you do. BMW was the first car company to introduce xenon headlights on 1991 7-Series. Like Lincoln could invent something of importance.

I'm delighted with the night-driving performance of the xenon headlights in my current Audi but can hardly wait to see how well the new LED lights perform. All I can say for now is that Xenon performance is light years ahead of halogen (no pun intended) and I'm hoping that LEDs will leapfrog xenon the same way. I expect lighting experts like the Philips Lighting Museum to create a display that compares the performance of halogen, xenon, and LEDs and chronicles the continuous improvement in automotive lighting technology.

The A8L W12 already incorporates LED lamps- not full lamps like the LS or R8, but partial...

How did I know the Lexus fans would jump at this? Are some of them that desperate? Do LED headlights matter that much?

it's not a big deal but when you're VORSPRUNG DURCH TECHNIK you have to toot your horn some how, even if it's a little late to the game. I've owned a couple Audi's and i know how slow they are to adopt technology and trickle it down to their bread and butter cars (A3 and A4)

Hey, I figured that would happen too. Bulldogz, I was not posting that information in a boastful manner, as many Lexus fans do of the LSh. I was simply stating that this was not the first Audi to incorporate the LED headlamp design. I know you can't accept my true ideas- that I like all brands. It seems as if you revolve around the idea that everyone on the site likes one given brand; I like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Infiniti... pretty much everything but Acura. Not all are as close-minded as you.

S4, to answer your question, LED lights don't matter that much. What significant about them right now is that they're new, so Audi is jumping at the chance to get some credit for them. Even though Lexus was first, second doesn't look so bad. Just look at Xenon headlights: they aren't important now because almost every car has them now.

The R8 will be the first car to have complete LED headlights..that means..Low beam, high beem and even blinkers.
The Lexus will only have low beam.

Audi has done some really cool and innovative work utilizing LED lights throughout their products, but credit must be given where credit is due: the LS600 is the FIRST car with full LED headlights.

I really like BMW's LED taillamps- they're very artistic and eye-catching, especially at night.

Also if you ask me, the Aston Martin DB9 was the first car to use LED's in the headlamps.

Does it even really matter though? I mean it's not like any of these car companies are responsible for the creation of LED's or Xenon's.

ACTUALLY, it was the 1987 mercury cougar that introduced bi-LED XENON HID headlights.

no matter what you say , audi cannot touch bimmer. I have seen too many audis stucck off the road, because of the dumb ass drivers, its ridiculous. To say the same audi dosent even come close to bimmer.

I saw so many BMW stuck on the road due to a little snow ... with probably some really good drivers inside. Why use a car that has potential only when sunny and dry outside? BMW=Excellent cars for 6 months out of 12. And when I say a little snow I don't mean extreme winter conditions, I just mean some snow on the street. Where everyone else has no problem but the rear traction cars have no traction. hahaha

How does it feel to know the new Impreza was not only designed by the ugly pencil, but looks like it was meant to be launched 10 years ago?

Power consumption is an important issue, especially if one is already running A/C and an overpowered audio system. Add that to heated seats and an electric fan for engine cooling while stuck in traffic and you better have a high-capacity alternator to keep your battery fully charged. If your Xenons are for high beams only, sitting in traffic will all electrical systems ON may not be an issue but bi-Xenon is the norm for better cars these days. Current-generation lighting using xenon is more than satisfactory but I'll gladly take LEDs if they use less power and can be produced in economic quantities.

LED lighting sounds great! Has anyone else heard that it is danderous to look directly at an LED? This concerns me a little when they will be on our streets! I love HID lighting and would embrace LED lights if they actually throw more light at a higher temperature! Has anyone ever used a LED flashlight? They don't throw as much light as an incondesant light, although LEDs have a much higher temperature they just don't cut it yet when it comes to distance.I would like to see LED compared with HID and halogen in real world conditions! Then we can all jump for joy when the results are in!!!!

With out a doubt Lexus is a reliable car maybe even more reliable then Audi, Mercedes or BMW however it has never contributed much to innovation or technology. They don't offer a true DSG transmission they don't use magnesium in their engines they don't use fiber optics for interior illumination and don’t offer anything like the iDrive but instead put about a thousand individual buttons on the dash ....I'll give them the self parking feature but that only adds weight and increases the already poor breaking and handling performance, their engine/suspension/brake components are not much different from your day to day Camry..not to mention the painting process and corrosion protection is weak.
