Audi Q7 or Volvo XC90? Which one would you choose and why?

both are good suv's, however i believe that the Q7 takes the win for this one

As much as I've wanted to like Volvo's (especially their C70) I have never ever been a fan of their interiors. They just look too simplistic and for some reason the buttons are a bit to big. Audi's on the other hand have always had some of the cleanest and most business like interiors. Additionally I think the styling on the Q7 is much more modern and sleek (though it is also a newer design).

definitely Audi = higher status than Volvo.

I'll take the Volvo for safety street cred among the Suburb crowds...

Audi Q7 is better,I think. Well I like Q7 better and don't know which is better. :))

Audis have always excelled in interior however Volvo seats are second to none in the industry. I personally would take the XC90 over the Q7 for reasons of reliability and safety. Not saying the Q7 isn't safe but that I'm sure those elegant buttons and awesome interior will come with bugs and gremlins beyond your wildest dreams. Own one Audi and you won't buy another.

And the Volvo safety thing is overrated these days, IMO. The Q7, A3, A4 and A6 all got some pretty great awards from the IIHS. Volvo doesn't quite have the edge it once did.

I will take the Audi Q7 with the 4.2 TDi
I believe the Audi is bigger, and with the 4.2 diesel, faster and more fuel efficient. Plus Audi is a higher quality product than the Volvo.

Volvo really has more reliability and safety than Audi, as I know. :P

Eh, no!

But between the XC90 and the Q7 I would choose the Q7 because its a newer car model and therefor a bit better then the XC90. Consider that the XC90 been around for over 4 years now it is indeed very good but the Q7 is better.
And also the Q7 has en advantage with more attractive engines.

Audi is the first and still the only manufacturer to have 4 cars with double 5 star ratings:
A3, A4, A6 and Q7.
Volvo does not even come close.
Also from the latest Consumer reports, Audi is the #1 European brand in the States in term of Reliability...

Well, I don't know about the US tests but looking in the hard EuroNcap the Q7 only, very disappointedly, got a 4 star rating.
Same for the A4 that only got a 4 star. (the face lifted A4 not tested)
The A3 did also only receive a 4 star rating

And also Volvo turns out to be among the safest in real life crashes. They are doing more then just optimizing the car to a standard test and that shows when you are not doing a 40% offset crash in to a wall in 64km/h (40mph)or the other 2 standard tests.

But truth is that Volvo is not so far ahead as earlier. With safety being a major selling point (at least in EU) all manufactures are doing really well in the standardized tests. Not receiving a 5 star rating is considered a small failure now days.

I like both and would get the Q7, but I do like the R-Class as well.

That's not a good picture of the Q7- those standard rims are disgusting. They look like flowers. I guess the Q7 looks bad in most pictures, anyway- so different on the road.

Any of you should know I'd take the Q7, but not just because it's an Audi. It is, at least by American standards, safer, more fun to drive, more luxurious, more reliable, has better tech and IMO looks better. The XC90 V8 Sport is a looker, but the Q7 4.2 S-Line just puts it to shame- I've seen a few (S-Lines), and wow, that's the biggest difference S-Line has made on any of their cars.
