Cadillac to drop STS and DTS

I think they should keep the STS model and revampe the other models. The new CTS looks amazing and their headed the right direction. The next STS will have some of the CTS cues. The Escalade looks great and is much improved. The DTS I never liked and the SRX whatever it is called is a Cadillac CTS jacked up. The interiors are virtually identical.

They need to revamp the XLR are too or make a new model. They need a true contender in the sports coupe/convertible segment. One that is saturated with great German automobiles. This is one tough segment but they need it regardless.

they should have made the cts the eclass, gs competitor, and made a car smaller than the cts to competete with the 3 series, and the sts replacement should compete with the s class

Does this mean that the BLS (or next-gen model BLS) will make its way to the US?

The SRX never really had a chance to succeed with a rather blocky design. With the success of the RX and the intoduction of the FX, the SRX needed to be more "slicker" in exterior design, disregarding room for a true 3rd row of seats for a sporty-oriented configuration.

The XLR needs further differentation from the Corvette lest it will die a slow death. It needs to be a lot more powerful & 100x more luxurious than the legendary Vette to justify its pricetag also. Adding and AWD system and a hybrid transmission might do the trick...for the short term.

1995e34, only Audi can pull off an AWD sports car. The R8 is unbelievably amazing. But Cadillac? Hell no!

Why are they droping the STS. They should bring the BLS over here, make a smaller coupe/convertible and redo the XLR.

The BLS is a rebadged Saab/Opel/Saturn.
Same platform as 9-3, Vectra and Aura.

I wasn't aware the BLS is FWD. So forget about renting one when i go to Europe next month.
Then just bring out more variants of the CTS, a wagon, a coupe, a drop top. Wasn't that what they were originally planning?

The Deville/DTS nameplate has so much potential to be a true LS/7/S/A8 competitor, why would they get rid of it? It's also a very popular fleet car in the DC area. Revamp that with the amazing Sixteen concept in mind and keep it Caddy!

The STS is much cheaper than the STS V8. So, no, it's not their flagship.

The 2008 CTS is going to be very succesful. But Cadillac has to take that popularity to the next level. They should really consider producing niche vehicles. For example, they should replace the STS with a 4 door coupe, something to compete with a MB CLS. There other models are all good, just not class leading. They have so much potential its sickening, they just have to execute their products properly. I hope GM doesn't become satisfied with profits from just the escalade and CTS and let the brand die off again.

Something tells me they're aware enough to know that they can't afford to do that any more.

They said they'd make something big again. It's not like they wouldn't be a luxury brand any more- and the DTS is their worst car. Ugly, floaty, cheap and slow. All Buick attributes.

i think dropping cts and dts is right. they should make a car that competes with the 3series/c-class cause the CTS doesnt seem to compete with the 3..

The CTS is far from being a problem for Cadillac.

This is were the focus should be: Where are the replacements for the STS, SRX, and XLR? The DTS should stay to keep those... (clears throat) ..."Geezer" customers. (I bet you Lexus doesnt get rid of the ES) AND DAMNIT CADILLAC, for the billionth time, how long do we have to wait for the FTS/ULS/Sixteen? I will soon be at a point were I can afford one of the Big 3 (A8/7series/Sclass). I will try to hold out as long as I can but soon I will not be able to wait any longer...
