Another Artist Impression of the 2009 Lexus GS-F
Remember the article about the 2009 Lexus GS-F posted by me on 04/02/2007: http://www.autospies.com/news/2009-Lexus-GS-F-with-V10-13869/
Now here another one reporting basically the same idea, but with a different impression of the car:
"The first in the new Lexus F brand was the Lexus IS-F that many expected to be a competitor to the BMW M3, but the end results was quite different. Even though blessed with hardcore, perhaps even borderlining on ricey looks, what the car was made of was suited more to a fast luxury cruiser instead of a track monster.

The next car in the Lexus F line-up will be the Lexus GS-F (artist’s impression above by Theophilus Chin), supposed to be aimed square at the BMW M5. Perhaps the GS-F will be powered by the V10 that’s supposed to be slotted into the Lexus LF-A supercar, making over 500 horsepower. While power figures on paper might defeat the M5, but that’s not all it takes to win the hearts of enthusiasts."

"...Almost everybody blasted me when I told them that Lexus was coming out with a V10 and V12......"

Even so, you act as if having a V10 or V12 is hugely impressive. Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz all offer ten-cylinder and twelve-cylinder engines, and have been for years. Audi has two V10s and a W12, BMW has two V10s and a V12, and Mercedes-Benz has three V12s.

S4: I can't wait for a comparison of this luxurious car with other unreliable German V10/12 offerings.

This is the distinguishing point of Lexus, they make cars that one can drive without being serviced by the mechanic every day.

It probably wouldn't have 450h wheels, most likely some black wheels. No bulged hood assuming the V10 will already be able to fit in the GS, along with IS-F front air dam and side vents, all looks very plausible.

LexusKing is just too much of a "Homer", although back to 1995e34 LS is outselling the A8 and very close to the 7-series, IS is not doing bad (joined with ES as entry level luxury outselling all the competitors).
The SC is just too old now, and the GS's problem is that its V6 has more horsepower than its V8, and the ES takes away some of its sales too.

LuxuriousLuxurious - 5/14/2007 5:33:59 PM

Strong V6 is not a problem (actually its the most powerful in its class), my point is having a weak v8 is the problem...
and most ppl that buy Luxury cars (Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Lexus) are older ppl that just wanna show that they drive a luxury car, and toyota was smart by updating the camry and putting "L" at the front which they knew that it would sell, so older ppl who cares just about show off would buy the ES.

bulldogs, the GS450h (5.3 sec 0-60 and 13.8 sec 1/4 mile) isn't as quick as the 550i or E550 (5.0 and 4.8 sec 0-60, 13.5 and 13.3 sec 1/4 mile). It's not even as quick as the 535i/xi. It is however dead even with the new GS350 AWD in both 0-60 an the 1/4 mile. And if you want further proof of the uselessness of the GS450h, here's what else the GS350 AWD does:

1) it gets 2mpg BETTER fuel economy than the hybrid,
2) it has AWD,
3) it has a trunk you can fit things in, and
4) it costs almost $10k less.

The same things would all be true of the 535i/xi as well with the exception of the cost difference, where the GS450h would cost $5k and $3k more than the BMW's, and not include free maintenance. Hmmm, tough choice there.

GS-F will be fast but i don't think it will crush the M5 or the E63. And this is coming from a person that loves the GS. It is my favorite Lexus.

But to say it can take out the legendary M and AMG power from a Merc is simply baseless information. The M has great handling and the E63 is no slug either.

If some of u know nothing bout this cars than why would u tell crap to ppl. lexus gs450h does 0-60 in 5.2s which kills the bmw 550, merce e550, and audi a6. I love all of those cars but the cars Lexus started to make since 06 are the most powerfull, luxurious, and the most beautiful models. bmw 550 rips out 5.4 0-60, same as merce e550, audi does it even slower. How can 550 rip out 4.8 0-60 if M5 does it in 4.5lol, dont make me laugh ppl. we have tried the 450h with e55 amg and amg takes a little faster 0-60 but if u start at the speed of 40mph and up 450h doesnt go any slower. the new gsf will rip all those cars. and also the 06 gs430 has the old engine from ls430 so thats not the acuall v8, they have gs460 now. There is no "finesse" to that huge rear end on that GS. Damn, that's one badonkadonk that is not the least bit attractive. Lexus lost all "finesse" on this model. The IS is the only decent looking 4 door Lexus IMO.

"The LS again compares favorably against the S, 7 and A8 and actually costs a little less, without cutting corners whatsoever."

Incorrect. Every sedan in this class is pretty amazing- so it's basically never true to say that any of them compare "favorably" to any other ones... I prefer the A8 and S-Class, but both the 7 Series and LS460 are also impressive.

Don't even start about the SC. The interior is garbage- it's a tacky ripoff of the last-gen XK in there. The ride is harsh, which ruins the ambience. The car looks like a bathtub, and is underpowered to boot. The ONLY reason I could ever justify buying one is the value price. The top is a moot point- you can now get a hardtop on a Chrysler Sebring, if you want it that badly.

"The IS? Well, what exactly makes it NOWHERE near the 3 series, new C, or A4? It's faster than all but the 3, handles great (I'd say better than the A4 or C class most likely), and has a nice interior."

The IS does not handle as well as the A4. Lexus somehow dillutes the RWD to the point that a FWD CVT A4 will drive better. The AWD obviously does, too. We know nothing about the new C-Class, but we both know that the 3 Series whips this segment. And what's so special about the interior? I was at the Lexus dealer three or four weeks ago, when my wife's RX's mirror fell off in the car wash, and all I saw was plastic and "aluminum look" trim. Even a $26K A3 is standard with real aluminum.

That is all.

Will, go drive an IS250 RWD and an A4 2.0T quattro. Moreover, if you'd like to be more direct, drive an IS250 AWD and an A4 2.0T quattro. S-Line doesn't hurt.

RWD doesn't automatically = better handling if your car is tuned for comfort. Your ignorance is "off the charts" if you think the IS handles better than the A4- because I can say with confidence that you haven't driven two that compare.

Although this will surprise you, in my quest for a winter car, I drove an IS250 AWD, in addition to a used 330xi, an A4 2.0T quattro and an A3 2.0T DSG. The IS250 was unimpressive and ridiculously slow, in this day and age. The 330xi was impressive, but the dealer wasn't, and I'd rather have a new car. Of course, it came down to the A4 and A3, but the DSG and rarity of the A3 won me over.

Bulldogz, Road and Track got the new GS350 AWD O-60 in 5.3 seconds and the 1/4 in 13.8, putting it a tenth of a second or two behind the 535i/xi and DEAD EVEN with the GS450h in both statistics. Check the performance figures in the latest issue. Everything else I said is true -- the GS350 AWD also got 2mpg better than the 450h, cost $10k less, has AWD, and boasts a trunk you can fit things in. And I said the 535xi is $3k less than the GS450h, which is the same number you came up with so I'm not understanding your point there. Either way I don't care that the GS450h is less than the 550i or E550 though because I don't see them as competitors. Why? Because they're in a different league performance-wise. I can get the 535i and get similar fuel economy and better performance than the GS450h for $5k less, and get free maintenance and a usable trunk to boot. Or if I don't want a BMW and I love the GS I can get that GS350 or GS350 AWD and save even more money.

Perhaps soon though, they are getting more publicity with the hybrid stuff. We do buy more hybrids than regular petrol models, simply because nobody wants an RX350 etc. You know we never got the RX330? Or the GS350? Or the IS350 for that matter. There's just no demand for fast Lexi, people want fuel economy, and Lexus doesn't offer that, bar in the expensive hybrids.

Look, see, "Lexus," I defended your favorite brand just above this post. But it's stupid things you say like "Lexus LS600hl is definitely better looking than all of them for sure" that pisses me off. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THEIR OWN OPINIONS. I would rather have an S600 or A8L W12, and you can't stop me.

I was driving my '91 Lexus ES250 (oh baby!) the other day and happened upon the following cars on the side of the road: 1932 Bugatti Royale, 1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL, every BMW ever made, 1955 Gullwing, every Bentley that ever rolled out of the assembly line, a Cizeta Moroder V16, a gaggle of new S600s and a Maybach 62. You know what they all had in common? They all had their hoods up and smoke was bellowing from the engine compartment.
Lexus rules!!

The body kit on the IS-F has a "boy racer" look to it, no elegance at all. I would apply the same comments on the GS-F.

This is a luxury car which is bought by conservative people for the most part - not riceboys.

However, the Lexus IS-F has the same body kit, so it wouldn't be surprising if the theoretical GS-F could come with the same thing.

LS-F? Do you think anyone will buy an LS-F? especially when a lot of it's consumers are mid-age and older? Do you seriously think they will be buying an LS for performance?

I think Lexus should really stop trying to join the horsepower war and concentrate on what they do best and that's in ride comfort and build quality. I don't know how a stiffer ride will settle with its consumers when all they buy a Lexus for is the ride comfort for the money.

You guys should also think about its pricing and why people buy Lexus. It is a little more affordable than its direct competitors and people do think bang for buck and people who want a full size luxury car but doesn't want to pay the premium for an S550 for example they can get an LS460 for much cheaper.

But as for the fans who already think the GS-F or imaginary LS-F can out take the M's, AMG's, & S/RS models from Germany think again. It's funny how you guys claim this and that when the products not even out yet. You guys don't even have a true sports car maybe Lexus should have thought about developing a true sports coupe/convertible before making the F line. Shouldn't they use a sports car as a base for good handling and overall power/weight ratio? All they have is this LFA concept that have yet to be out in the market. I think the SC430 should be put down and a new "LFA" type car should be introduced.

THEN TALK!

There's no way someone would pay 180K for a Lexus so making a car and naming it a supercar would be pointless. When you get into that price range there are top notch Audi's (R8), SL55/65, M6 and that's some tough competition.

Get a Lexus or go test drive some Germans before making such moronic comments. But first off sell your old Toyota Corolla or Camry because you have no Lexus so don't think it's even close. If you do then you also believe Lexus is still just a Toyota in suit.

Agent63: I value your opinions. Lexus is clearly conservative and comfort biased.

Yes, Lexus (and just about everyone) wants to do something different these days. They are not wrong in doing so.

But in order to get that 'ultimate flagship' (which the LS600h won't be), they need to get a LS-F in their showrooms.

Hopefully if it is a bit less 'overstated' than the IS-F, I think it will work well.

What do you think?

Whoever said that Lexus will create "another Legend?" Name the 1st Legend. You Lexus people have to come to grips with your favoritie brand being luxury for the masses. That's it that's all. They are successful because they pander - selling what people want, which is also why they own derivative vehicle styling. THEY ARE FUNDAMENTALLY NOT RISK TAKERS! GET OVER IT.

Lexusnumberone - the 'legends' you claim are all dimunitive points in vehicle history, let;'s review:

First legend : LS400. Stuns the auto-world...with shockingly inexpensive clone of MB S-Class

Second legend : SC300/400. Performance and beauty...following the tradition of GT coupes the world over in no outstanding way

Third legend: IS300. Four-door Supra. Clean looks...Are you crazy? This thing was a dog, a chick car with the carisma of the current Yaris, BMW was shaking in their boots with this one :)

Fourth legend : LS600h. Look where a flagship can go in the 21st century. A hybrid that using the technology as gadgetry, it means nothing - it is not a legend.

Fifth legend : IS-F. Rice? Luxury? Performance? In one package. Trying to anticipate and emulate the next M3 does not a legend make

Sixth legend : GS-F (Hopefully). You are officially mental.

First I don't even know we even compare the 5 Serie to the Lexus GS. Secondly, the current 5 Series is just herendous........whn compare to the Lexus GS.

Lexus IS350 way better looking than the 3 Series, C-class and the Audi A4. The Lexus GS is way better looking than the boring A6. The big bloated S-class look like it got stripe of tape on it rearlight. Audi A8 need a remodel, it just bland, old, and clunky when compare to the beauty of the LS600hl.

All of the brand I mention above has it strong and weak point but to says German is better at everything is just plain "STUPIDITY".

Lexus need to work on their performance side for sure and that is what they are currently doing.

BMW need to work on their reliability and interior design. Audi need to redesign the A6 and A8 and make as good looking as the A4. MB need to work on their relibility and design too.

SCOOTER: Really? Whose opinion is this? That hobo who lives in a dump?

"..with shockingly inexpensive clone of MB S-Class.."
All the magazines praised it highly. It had Rolls-matching silence.

"...following the tradition of GT coupes the world over in no outstanding way.."

It had features on one else had. Some critics found the design of the new Lexus coupe to be very distinctive compared to other cars at the time; later, the SC design was considered influential in the development of automotive designs that followed. The SC 400 was honored as the Motor Trend Import Car of the Year for 1992. It also made Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1992 through 1998. Owing to its advanced design, the first generation SC lasted in production until July 7, 2000, a span of over 9 years. This production cycle was quite long compared to the average car of the 1990s, which was being redesigned every 3-4 years to keep up with the changing styling of automobiles.

"...This thing was a dog, a chick car with the carisma of the current Yaris, BMW was shaking in their boots with this one..."

Keep your worthless opinions to yourself. It was at that time considered to be 3-series' sole fighter.

"Trying to anticipate and emulate the next M3 does not a legend make..."

Please tell me that you're not a native English-speaker.
OK, time will tell if this car will be a legend.

"You are officially mental."

May I see your medical-qualifications ?

Rolls-matching silence! Wow, I've always wanted that- never being able to hear my engine, with awkward silences, all that good stuff.

And, on the SC. The first SC was great. But do you notice how messed-up the current one is? Ever wonder why Lexus completely ruined it?

I feel like you guys take a lot from others but never experience these things for yourself - head out and test drive, great dealers want you to! Establish some relationships and get out there and drive - I am sure some of your opinions will change, while others will be solidified. I am not pro-German or anti-Lexus or anything, but we can have Lexus being everything to everyone, it's not and neither is BMW. The Hobo from the dump out.

Man lexus is making such big stides in recent years. First was the IS, then the LS, then ISF, and now even GSF. And seeing that the number of cars that lexus is selling now in US it seems that the japaneese luxury makers may take up the luxury automotive market in near future and just like how they have taken up most of the share of car sales in economic class (causing ruin to american car companies). And in recent surveys Lexus had a greater percentage rise of sales than either Mercedes or BMW. If events keep on going this way, i see no reason as to why Lexus can not dominate luxury car market just as toyota dominates economic car market now. Good going for lexus.
