Miami Holds Top Spot On Raod Rage List

For the second straight year, rude Miami drivers have earned the city the title of worst road rage in a survey released Tuesday.

Miami motorists said they saw other drivers slam on their brakes, run red lights and talk on cell phones, according to AutoVantage, a Connecticut-based automobile membership club offering travel services and roadside assistance.

Other cities near the top of the rude drivers list were New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

South Miami resident Erik Pinto told The Associated Press he's probably seen every bad driving habit on Miami's roads.

"You don't want to know what I've seen," Pinto said. "I've seen everything. I'm from L.A., and we don't see the crazy drivers that you see here."

The list, ranked from those reporting the most incidents of road rage to the fewest:

As a current Miami resident I can assure you guys this Post is absolutely right. Miami is full of impatient snobby and inconsiderate people. Lets say someone cuts you off by making an illegal u-turn and dare you honk, you will most likely get cursed at or a finger. If only our driver's manners were as great as the cars Miami would actually be a pleasant place to drive.

Miami has killed Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus. You wont get much distinction in those. Especially when you see young kids in them on every corner. If you want that, then you would need to move up past the 150K mark. Continental GTs are more popular than the new CL here and are becoming "the" car to have.

They have to pass by Montreal, Canada. The drivers are all mental over here. They cross red lights, when turning they go on the sidewalk. Just a few weeks ago i saw a man in a wheel chair get run over and the driver came out and started screaming at the poor man, while the guy was putting all his effort to get back on to his chair.

I've been in a lot of towns of course Miami should be #1 but a place where people just don't seem to know how to drive is Denver. They are not really rude, they just don't have a grasp on it. Signs mean nothing,frwy ramps are often missed and they back up to exit them they change lanes without a care and drive 60 with ice on the road because they have 4 wheel drive? So for rude and self centered the list looks pretty much
by my expeience to be okay, but for shear i don't really know how to drive, Denver is my pick city.

Oh Chuck,

You have obviously been here, and it isn't just Denver it is most of Colorado. For some reason people who drive SUV's here believe that somehow their vehicle negates the laws of physics. They drive, even in the most inclement of weather like maniacs. 75 Mph in a 65 in the middle of a snow storm strikes me an an exercise in self-selection Darwinism.

One of the funniest things I have ever seen on the road was after a particularly severe snow storm and a large pile of snow had been pushed off the road and into a small parking lot along side. It was a total of probabl 15 feet tall. Someone had attempted to drive their Hummer H2 over it- and high centered it.

Personally, I'd move San Francisco up to number 2 or 3. In fact, LA is actually pretty good- I spend an equal amount of time in both cities and see the driving difference. The huge number of surveillance cameras in LA may have something to do with it.
Bimmermike- awesome reply. BTW, I think its not just the drivers in Austin, TX, but the people of Austin themselves who are far more polite, decent and cultured than the vast majority in our unwashed US of A. Lovely town- don't want to issue an unwanted generalization here, but- you'd hardly believe it was in Texas (San Antonio too).

Near Williams, AZ, there is a natural monument on I-40 facing the Eastbound lanes. It welcomes people like you to the rest of the country. It looks exactly like the hand giving the middle finger.

I live in NY and drove to visit relatives in Florida as well as conduct some business while I was there. My friend and I were amazed by how horrible the drivers were. We see crazy drivers in NY - but not as bad as South Florida. I don't think it's just Miami - I would include Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Driving on I95 and/or the FL Turnpike - NUMEROUS drivers cut us off with no signal - and this is doing 80+ MPH. Central Florida wasn't as bad.

Dade- don't even talk about it. If you don't get run over/shot there while passing through, consider yourself fortunate.
