Cerberus buys Chrysler: what the finance writers aren't saying

The problem with Chrysler since 1998 has been running the company for the benefit of Mercedes, not for the benefit of DaimlerChrysler as a whole. Though (as of May 16, 2007) we're sure there are plenty of strings attached to this deal, Chrysler will be run by people who want to make money, not transfer profits to another division's budget line and pretend they're losing money, as it appears Daimler has been doing. There are many causes for concern, but also good reason to hope.

I can hardly wait for all these details to emerge. I don't have the time to do this but perhaps a car guy with corporate finance skills will research and analyze SEC filings and other public sources for evidence of financial chicanery involving profit transfers.
