Nissan is taking it slow with Infiniti
You would think that due tremendous success with the Infiniti G35 and the G37, Nissan’s Infiniti brand would be enjoying rocketing sales worldwide and expanding its reach. Well, not exactly. Currently, Infiniti is only sold in North America, South Korea, Taiwan and of course Japan. However, Infiniti is not in a rush to take over rest of the world.

Nissan will start selling the Infiniti brand in China starting this summer, opening only 10 dealerships in major cities. The first Infiniti dealership is set to open in Beijing this July. China’s luxury car market, which is largely dominated by German cars, is growing twice as fast as it’s overall market. Even then Nissan has decided to sell only 1,000 Infinitis in their first year in China.

China is the second largest automotive market in the world and is expected to exceed the US and become the largest car market by 2020.

As for the European folks, they won’t get the Infiniti brand until 2008.

So when in 2008 will Infiniti be in Europe? If it is January, that's not so far from summer 07. Infiniti is spreading a lot faster than Acura and hopefully will be better received than Lexus in the new markets.

They sure make great cars but have no clue on marketing.

Go Infiniti! I can see them as a viable world player- they seem to posess a more universal appeal than Lexus and Acura, as they can be sporty or luxurious. They're not bad-looking cars, either; the FX is timeless, the G is smart and the M looks as good as it did two years ago.

bulldogz, the entire reason the Q45 isn't on sale any more is because it wasn't well-recieved. It wasn't a bad car, just not executed very well. Considering how good their recent products are, I'd expect that their next flagship will be a fierce competitor in the prestige class.

Infiniti started out with great potential but couldn't quite get things right. Then they lost their way even with the latest Q45 that was back to being sporty. Infiniti finally started having cohesive product with every single model released since the G35 sedan intro in 2002. So their history has been sketchy, but future potential is huge. Yes, the Q is on hiatus, but it will be back at the end of 08 I understand as a 09 model.

A flagship car is in the works and if they bring it to the public i think the eyebrows finally get raised about whether or not this division can build a luxury car they can. Remember the Q was not a bad machine these folks just can't market it but things are a changing the new Q will be very satisfying.
The rest of Infiniti is very solid, the M and G really set them up and the FX is a sports crossover knock out, the new CX fills the smaller void G type wagon it will sell big. The Euros like these machine's i here and China likes the FX and G throw in a luxury car done very right i think Infiniti is ready for the Super Bowl instead of the Divisional title?
